You may also need to factor in all the religious families who have 8 children per household. (Both Jewish and Muslim)

Tel Aviv is really cool too, but in an opposite way from Jerusalem. It's sort of like a small LA or Miami I guess.
The urban, geographic, and cultural diversity of Israel is amazing. It is a MUST SEE in my book.

Tel Aviv is far, far more urban than Miami or LA and I'd argue is significantly more urban than Jerusalem as well.

The Old City of Jerusalem is very small - the rest of the city is still urban, but not nearly as urban as the streetviews of the old city people have been posting.

Tel-Aviv on the whole has more commercial activity and pedestrian-oriented urban areas. Scenes like this are all over Tel-Aviv:

Not as pretty as Jerusalem but more urban and walkable. And light years ahead of LA and Miami in those regards.
