Even compared to Fort Wayne, a similar sized Toledo, Toledo wins there too.
Toledo is trying, they really are. We'll see in a few years if some of the investments they are making pay off. However, the point of my original post is this. Downtown Detroit is not dead. Not even close. I just used Toledo as a comparison.

Here's what it's like in Detroit: Winter(hardly any activity), Spring(a little more), Summer(Lots of activity, festivals, people everywhere), Fall(about the same as springtime). The city has it's problems for sure, but without a doubt it's one of the most fun cities, if you go to visit an event you like. Such as a sporting event, theatre district, concert, electronic music festival, food fest, jazz fest, grand prix, art, car cruise, walk along the riverfront, motown music, gamble the night away at MGM or the other casinos.

Houston's downtown is dead, but Midtown and Uptown are usually active (not many pedestrians walking in uptown though). If Uptown was more walkable,it would be lots of people walking around I think. MontBullBoxer31 well, also TMC is very active during the day.

Yes, in general Houston's downtown is dead with certain areas with some pedestrian activity.

It's very dead compared to other cities, I'll say on Weekend nights....it's pretty live and crowded. I went there last Saturday and I had the best time of my life! The clubs are amazing here, especially coming from small town (Waco,Tx!)

go into the underground tunnels and you will see a more active downtown. the heat is what keeps everyone from walking the sidewalks. no way would i call it dead.

Is there a city in this thread that was named for having a dead downtown that wasn't defended by some over-zealous poster?
