any major city will have a ton of local/downtown traffic, but as far as i'm concerned nyc takes the cake - especially manhattan, but also many parts of the outer boroughs as well, such as downtown brooklyn, western queens, the south bronx, etc.

I would say NYC and San Francisco have the most foot traffic, LA the most car traffic.

I saw something on the news last night that DC area traffic is still getting hammered by all that snow you guys got the last week or so ago. Some major roads still have only one lane open supposedly. The report said even the Saturday traffic is moving slow, like rush hour on a weekday!

I would say New York, Chicago and DC have the most foot traffic since they get massive populations downtown on weekdays. New York is easily the king, followed by Chicago which also has over 500,000 downtown workers. They're both the top cities as far as mass transit % commuters.

New York actually has fairly small streets overall in the downtown area - since the street pattern is so old. Chicago seemed to have more car traffic downtown just because of the capacity and large population down there.
