hello,

thank you

Those flying critters are everywhere. So. Utah is not so bad if you are not near water. What So. Utah has are crawling bugs.

Yes we have poisonus snakes and scorpions. The big scorpions are not as bad as the small white ones. Most the crawling things are not poisonous. I was blown away the first time I saw a rhinosaurs beetle. that thing was huge, over 3 inches long. It had a large black hard shell, with a furry underbelly. Stink bugs are everywhere. Small mealy, or pill bugs get into everyones homes, but they are like lady bugs in the desert. I haven't had a mosquiot bite in two years. I think they like wetter enviornments than this place. Not to say they aren't here, they are just not as prevelant.

I am not sure to which mosquito you are referring; however, I believe de Havilland stopped production of the twin Merlin Mosquito in 1948, and I haven’t seen any here in Utah. I can tell you that in some places I have seen four engine mosquitoes, and when they bite, they leave a mark the size of a 500lb general purpose fragmentation bomb. I have also noticed an abundance of light infantry and mechanized ant armies. My biggest problem right now is the Utah Prairie Dog. The little buggers are everywhere. I understand they are threatened, so I will try to find a way of coexisting with them, but my vegetables are my vegetables, not theirs.

What part of Utah are you asking about? Southern Utah is liable to have different critters than the SLC area.
