Relocate to Tooele Valley... maybe
Any insider info on Tooele and surrounding communities? Me and my wife were in the area a couple of months ago and liked a lot better the Ogden-Salt Lake-Provo corridor.

I really depends on what you are looking for. Do you want land, a bigger house for less money? Check out home prices in Stansbury Park and Grantsville. I personally would rather live on the East Side of Salt Lake (Benches). Tooele is a small town experiencing huge growing pains at the moment. It could be a turbulent place over the next few years. Also I-80 East into Salt Lake from Tooele has been deadly due to the high winds and high speeds. Just a nugget of info! I hope this helps.

If you have school age children, I would definantly recommend NOT moving to Tooele. Check out Copperton...or even Magna. I'm from Tooele and would never move back. I have two boys: one teen and a tween...where I live in Emery county is prime for raising kids, low crime rates and NO inversion!
Anywhere you live in the SL valley you have to worry about the pollution. If you're looking for a place that's got that "hometown" feel and the realestate is reasonable...chek out Emery or Carbon Counties.

I'm curious why you say that.

If you love cars and racing I'd live there... the race track is going to
be a wonderful addition to the community, not to mention
Tooele would be the place to buy land... most is going fast as it is.

I live in Stansbury Park and would not live anywhere else. We had looked into moving to the North Salt Lake/Bountiful area about a year ago, but we couldn't find anyplace that seemed like "home" to us the same way Stansbury does.
I love the community amenities and the neighborhood feel that I have living here.
I have two daughters and feel safe with them outside. It does get windy in Tooele County...VERY windy sometimes. That doesn't bother me, however, because I love windy days.
I guess wherever you would like to live depends on what you are looking for.

We moved to Stansbury a year and a half ago and it has been great. The small town feel is nice, but since there is nothing commercial you have to drive 10 miles into Tooele or into the Salt Lake Valley to go shopping. The commute for me has been wonderful. it takes me 25 -35 minutes to get to my office on 22nd south and Main st. There is rarely a traffic backup. The only time I experienced delays was on the heavy snow days. People are nice and the area is booming. There are 2 new housing developments popping up where we live. I would say I will live here forever, but I just accepted a job with Boeing in Washington so we are leaving in 2 months Good luck with the decision

I lived in Stansbury Park for 9 years. And I loved it there. Far enough away from the "city". But close enough that it doesn't have to be an all day event just go into the "city". Because it is rural, some things you just won't find in Tooele. But for the most part, you'll find everything you need.
Did they finish that Home Depot out there yet, kaytidid ? That was where most of my "out of county" spending was done.

Yes! They did finish the Home Depot! There are 3 new subdivisions going in. I am not sure which one's were in when you were here and they are talking about a shopping center at the corner of 36 and 138. There is also a shopping plaza that is going in (small one) at the end of Village Blvd. A Radio Shack, 24 hour fitness, Kraver's with a drive through, Stansbury Dance Academy and some other ones too, but I am not sure who will be there yet. Home Depot is by far my most favorite place to spend money. Would you believe that they STILL charge 50.00 to deliver to Tooele Cty though, even though they are RIGHT HERE??? UGH.
