Funny that ppl would be afraid of Utah because of potential jihad/witch hunts/crusades from the majority religious beliefs here. Considering how, who and why this state was even founded I mean.

Good news on the job market.

Great, now we can look forward to genuine gridlock at rush hour, more pollution and more solid inversions in the winter, higher taxes attempting to keep up with the endlessly thirsty school budget from a burgeoning baby boom and less open space. Ahhh welcome to Las Vegas My retirement can't come fast enough if that happens and I'll be glad to sell to find some peace and quiet out of here.....it sure won't be here that's for sure. Sorry Hilgi, it's not always about complaining it's about the realities of what people want. Some WANT to live in a population packed environment and some don't. I long for the way it was here in the late 70's, others don't. Just that simple

Some people just long for the past others prefer to make the future a better place. Wishing for the good old days won't help, sorry.

Some folks (apparently such as yourself) have an interesting take on what is "better". If better is longer waits for everything including travel, doctors appointments and more. Along with higher crime, elevated taxes and strained lifestyle. Sheesh dude you came from California. I would have thought you wanted to escape that, and yet you seem to enjoy the thought of this becoming little LA? Whasssup with that? I'm still trying to figure some of these people out but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason. Whatever floats your boat there I guess. Uncontrolled growth is a bit like hair without hair cuts. At first it's not so bad, but eventually it becomes pretty nasty. Apparently Utah, in it's fervor to be a capitalist haven, is throwing all other considerations out the window. Utah, nor any place else, is NOT the endless pot of gold they would like to think of themselves as. They will sacrifice MUCH to get the wealth they seek. I, while obviously one of the aware few, would rather give up some of that so called wealth for the sustaining of this environment before it is GONE. And once GONE isn't returning EVER. THAT is the reality. the ONLY problem with the PAST Hilgi, is we don't seem to want to LEARN from it!!!

My point is we aren’t going backwards; we are going forward so we need to make the best of it. So far I don't see us becoming LA, just two blocks from my house they are putting in a light rail stop and a health care facility. I saw how Orange County grew and it is nothing like how we are growing.

I am doing my best to not add to the traffic; so far I have resisted getting another car. My lease came due in CA so I figured I would get another car here but so far I think I can do without (and without the bill), once the Trax is open that will make it a lot easier. The world is changing, more people are telecommuting all the time, the future is not 9-5 in a downtown office, this is the "better" I am talking about. I promote the future all the time, not the congested, crowed, stressful past.

Walkable urban and suburban communities are the future, the same with exurbs. As the boomers retire they will move to the city or the exurbs in mass, this will take a strain off the roads.

I think Utah is the perfect place to bring about this form of community.

That does sound rather ideal. Why don't you run for office and help that become a reality?
