I'm with you, dogmom, dogs and cats shouldn't be out loose anywhere, much less a harsh desert environment. Our neighbors were walking their dog, took his leash off to have him fetch a ball, and someone driving by saw them and stopped to tell them about a coyote crossing in front of his car down the road. Needless to say they took their dog in right away.

We used to email pictures of our drive home to friends and family, that will be a very hard view to replace, especially as the sun goes down. pianopat, you will absolutely love it up there, people are extremely friendly and the houses are so beautiful, on top of every convenience being 1-2 miles "down the hill." As dogmom says, it's not as wild west further down the hill than we were in the newer sections.

I got my info about other subdivisions from the 'preview' magazine. I didn't actually walk them like I did Silver Stone 3 and 4. I've been told by a couple of 'old-times' in the area that the turtle fence has been moved up and back a few times over the years, depending on how much developers have been willing to pay. I also like it where it is now. I haven't seen any coyotes though. I'll have to get off the couch more.

Default Green Springs Area

We are looking to move to Green Springs. Can anyone tell me more about the number of kids in the area? I have three kids 5,3 and 1 and want to move to a neighborhood that has kids for mine to play with. I want to get at least a half an acre. Anyone have any suggestions?

As far as the Silverstone subdivisions go, Silverstone I and II have the largest lots. The lots became much smaller as they built III and IV. I and II seem to also have more kids than III or IV (we used to live in III). Can't speak for other developments in Green Springs, but we loved the entire subdivision and the drive up. Best views in town.

FYI, seems like the largest lots in town (Washington) for new developments are down in Washington Fields. Really big lots, bigger than Green Springs, and tons and tons of kid neighborhoods.

Default Positives and Negatives of Green Springs/Washington

I don't live in Green Springs, but I do live in Washington. Green Springs is beautiful, as are many new developments in the St. George area. Like everywhere, there are positives and negatives. Some of the positives are that the development is close to shopping, food and entertainment. There are some pretty stunning panoramic views if you can afford the homes and lots. I also find it peaceful and pleasant. Like someone else mentioned there is a good mix of new families and retired couples and is a good area to raise a family.

Now for the negative. The intersection that leads from Green Springs to everywhere else (the freeway underpass and Telegraph/Red Cliffs) can get backed up quite a bit and it will only get worse as the developments grow and the infrastructure doesn't keep up. I came here thinking that I was going to get away from traffic, but it didn't turn out to be so.

The stories that someone wrote on here I remember reading about the police are true. Washington makes 28 percent of its revenue from traffic tickets. I live on a blind corner where there is a stop sign and on occasion I look out my window and see a police car parked on the side of my house. When he's there I have seen him go after drivers several times and he seems to target those who have more expensive vehicles.

One thing I have found living here (at least in my mind) is that some of the natives seem to resent all of the growth that has occurred in the area. When we were moving into our custom-built home, we discovered many things wrong that were done intentionally. For example, a couple of the sinks in the house had the hot and cold water faucets reversed. When you turned on what you thought was the cold water, it turned out to be hot and vice versa. Some of our appliances were installed incorrectly. Our dishwasher was not hooked up correctly and caused flooding in the kitchen and the overhead microwave was loose because it had screws missing from the mounts.

When you make a decision to move here, you have to consider everything. I did not take into full account of the affect that people can have and even though the scenery is gorgeous, jealous, angry, and bitter people can make your life a living hell.
