Salt Lake City, Utah's largest urban center, grew for the second consecutive decade and the state's long-standing majority-white population is slowly being eroded by a growing Hispanic and Asian presence, according to 2010 Census results released Thursday.
"Four out of 10 new Utah people from 2000 to 2010 are minorities," says Pamela Perlich, senior research economist at the University of Utah's Bureau of Economic and Business Research. "There's a wave of diversity sweeping across the state."

Okay. I still don't understand why this is such a big deal to lots of folks. Doesn't matter much to me either way. But then people are just people to me--Homo Sapiens.

No.Humans are different, a black can't be a white, an Asian can't be a Mestizo. We have differences (blue eyes, blond hair, more bones for blacks..etc..).We're not the same, and it's beautiful

But all species have small differences. We don't dwell on them with other species. Why do we dwell on them with ourselves? Sorry, when I see a "black" person, a "white" person, a "Hispanic" person, an "Asian" person, it means nothing to me (of course they are visually different). My opinion of any given person is not based on what they look like (that means very little to me) or what language they speak, but rather what's on the inside and their actions.

Humans are different in some way, but they are exactly that, human. One must also consider the individual persons as well. Individuals differ within the group as well as outside of the group.

More racial diversity. Another thing to consider, which I have not heard on this thread, is that the African-American population is rapidly increasing in Utah. I did a map project about this. Utah was shown to have among the fastest-growing African-American populations in the USA. Idaho has the fastest growing African-American population in the USA.

Since the OP has nothing to do with Utah and has never posted here before, I think this might be a subtle way of trying to stir up trouble. Thread closed.
