Hi all,

I'm moving to UT, next week actually, for work. My job is in Pleasant Grove and i'll be staying with family until I find a townhouse.

I was hoping for some suggestions on where to look. I am a single female mid-twenties. I'm looking for somewhere that is a fun, but I also don't want to feel like I'm surrounded by super young college students....I'm more looking for the young, working crowd. I would like to keep my commute to work under 25 minutes. I'm also looking to purchase, not rent.

Any advice would be appreciated!

there isn't really any place "fun" unless you goto SLC area - which would put you at the edge of 25 minutes if not further. then again, perhaps if you defined fun - but if you're looking for a night life you won't find it in PG or anywhere in utah county. I moved to utah county, PG specifically, last summer and the only times i've gone out are the few times i've trecked all the way up to SLC. Am in late 20s & non-LDS and not from Utah - so that's been my experience. but if u like to hike or ski - then there is fun to be had.

I'm not big on night life. I don't do bars/clubs. I guess I just mean I dont want to be surrounded by families or retirees. I'm LDS, so I know it's very family oriented, i just want to be closer to the younger crowd. For example, I already know American Fork is not somewhere I would enjoy living.

Here we go again.

It completely depends on what you call fun. If you're a party animal, no, you'll probably not have a lot of "fun." Since the OP stated that she was not, that won't be an issue. For a younger crowd, concentrate on the areas around the two universities in Provo and Orem.

I think the area appeals most to those who don't depend on others to provide entertainment for them and to those who are into outdoorsy types of things. For instance, road biking is becoming very popular around here. Of course, hiking, camping, skiing, etc always have been. Contrary to popular belief, residents of "Happy Valley" don't spend all of their waking hours in church or persecuting those who are not of their faith.

I'd say if you find places like LA, San Fran, NYC, etc "fun" (at least your kind of "fun" and a place you'd want to live), you probably won't find this area "fun." The opposite applies as well.

Thanks so much! I was thinking either Provo or Orem....but I'm kinda leading towards to Orem at the moment. I am very much looking forward to all the hiking and outdoor activities that will be so close.
