LOL. I am not from there orginally, so don't spit too hard.

I lived in Pemberton, so not too far. I always have to spit when the Garden State is mentioned.

LOL I lived at MAFB for the majority of the time, but then after I got married we lived in Edgewater Park for a few years before moving here.

I have a job interview in Provo next week. I have lived in Indiana most of my 54 years but have always loved the Rocky Mountain area. What types of things will I need to adjust to significantly and what do you all LOVE about Utah the most?

Good luck on your interview!

I had to get used to the dryness out here. Every where I have lived has always been humid and although it is much better without the humidity, it was a change. Although it isn't a factor for me, some people do express displeasure with the feeling that religion has a bit of a hold on the state. Utah is not just a move to a different state, rather it is a cultural change. It is hard to explain and you have to be here for longer than a vacation stay to understand what I mean. It is NOT necessarily a bad thing. It just is what it is and it will take some getting used to. How you are at adaptation and understanding that this is just the way Utah is will determine if you can live happily here.

As far as what I love most? That would take too much time. Suffice it to say, there isn't much I don't like about Utah. I have lived in many states during my life and I don't see me ever living any place else!

Funny, we almost moved to Scranton for hubby's work. My grandparents lived in Bloomsburg & my Dad went to Kutztown. I got on a Scranton forum (well, I think it was NEPA) , & the RESIDENTS said 'why in the world would I want to move from Utah to NEPA?' lol We ultimately decided to stay put. =)

I bet you did. I was asking about neighborhoods. Most kept trying to tell me about the mountains there for skiing & someone said something about ice climbing. I don't remember if I said, but, I don't do either. lol

No joke, first few days I was in SLC for my job interview, I kept having a bloody nose. I assumed it was because of the dryness (I used to live in PA/CA/FL so yeah, a lot more humid).

But yeah, we like it here regardless.

That's funny. I definately wouldn't consider Logan run down. It's nicer than I thought it would be when I went there a couple of years ago. If you want to see "run-down" come see some of areas here in East Tennessee where I now live.

I personally like the Salt Lake Valley the best. I'm more of an urban kind of guy. That's where I'd live, and there are plenty of places that have trails, etc.
