I personally like the Salt Lake Valley the best. I'm more of an urban kind of guy. That's where I'd live, and there are plenty of places that have trails, etc.
So, the Salt Lake Valley is basically SLC and the immediate "suburbs?"

Thanks!

It's really quite difficult to tell where Salt Lake City proper ends and the suburbs begin.

Ahh, we definitely found that out when we were exploring SLC. We started our adventure in Logan-- scoping it out, deciding if we wanted to live there. Something wasn't quite right-- it just didn't feel like home.

So, we headed south to SLC. While there was so much to do and see, we found it was very difficult to really tell where the "commercial" areas ended and the residential areas began. So, that wasn't quite what we were looking for either.

We felt totally defeated at that point-- drove to Tooele, and then through Stockton (where I got a speeding ticket, grrrr..... ) and ended up in Lehi. I really liked that area, but my husband wasn't convinced.

Honestly, we didn't even check out Provo/Orem. We just headed south to St. George. Our first day in St. George, my husband found a job-- but we didn't have anywhere to live. We went to California for the weekend to stay with my Mother-in-Law, came back to St. George Sunday night-- and found a place to live, and moved in, on Monday. Crazy how it worked out-- but the cards just seemed to fall in the right place!

I just thought I would update anyone that might be curious what happened.

I LOVE St. George!! I hope you are very happy there. I could have warned you about the cops in Stockton. They live to hand out speeding tickets there. My sister lives in Stockton and I hate driving to her house because I *do* have a lead foot and I have to watch my speed like a hawk in town.

Congrats again on your new home!

Yay! I'm so glad you found a place to live I've been reading this thread just out of curiosity, you received some awesome replies. We live in the SL valley & have thought of moving away for various reasons - so hearing how well things went for you makes me happy! Moving can be so tricky sometimes.

I was thinking about you the other day because it doesn't seem like there is much of an "online community" here, so it's tough to meet other moms! I had told the one person I did meet that if we had settled near SLC, I might at least have a friend or two by now, LOL.

We go 'south' a few times a year. Just 2 days ago, I planned to go to a friend's b-day dinner party. My sis begged me to spend the night w/ her & our Mom, as it was their last night in Utah for now. I did, but, got flack from all my friends who went.

I'll PM you my cell #. When you come 'north', feel free to 'hang' w/ us. =) St. George is awesome, I'm just a hot body. lol I like the cold, or I sweat too much. lol

I would like to relocate to Utah but recently I have seen some posts that kind of worry me. Such as, if you're not LDS you are looked down upon, people know that you're not from there and they treat you differently, we are Hispanic (I was born and raised in NY, my family is from Puerto Rico and my husband is from South America), I worry that
