Smile What is life in Lehi, Utah like???

I am originally from Burbank CA and am currently living in Dedham MA. I am relocating in a few weeks to Lehi Utah. In May I visited Utah on vacation and fell in love with it there!!! It is NOTHING like MA....it is clean, the people are polite, respectful, and friendly. I am curious what it is like to live in Lehi? I am not mormon, however have not heard anything bad about them. The few I have met have been extremely nice and respectful people. I am not into kids but as long as they behave I'm fine....I love animals, figure skating, and just love life ingeneral. What I am hoping to find in Utah is people who respect animals...that is a MUST in my life, peaceful, quiet lifestyle. Friendly people, and a happy environment. Any comments are appreciated!

Thanks,
Lisa

Well, I lived in Lehi for about 6 months. It was okay. While I was there, there was only an Albertson's, a Kohlers (small grocery store) a McDonalds, a Hollywood video, and a Danish Oven Buffet place (it was yummy but expensive), and a Target in American Fork. It was in Lehi, I guess. It got very traffic-ee in the mornings and evenings, but I believe the put a round a bout in which has helped. People coming from Eagle Mountain cause a lot of the traffic on the main road in and out of Eagle Mountain, and it affects Lehi. They built a Wal-mart and a Cinemark movie theater not far in American Fork, and there were restaurants like Chili's, Cafe Rio (yummy mexican), popping up over there around the time I left Utah. I used to have drive to either Sandy or Provo to go to main restaurants/movies, before they built up more out there.

Lehi had a small, quiet town feel when I lived there. I did enjoy it. I think it it getting more built up now, but I left in Jan 2005, so things may have changed a lot now, more than I am aware of. I really liked my neighborhood, which did have some known non-LDS and inactive LDS, and everyone always got along, fine.

Lehi is really growing fast. It still has the small-town feel in the old part of town, along main street, etc. But the outskirts that used to be farmland or orchards are now new housing developments. It's conveniently located between Provo and Salt Lake, and it has a lot more commercial development now, as well. Some of the old-timers resent all the new people coming in, but the people I know who live there really like the city. It does have a traffic problem along main street, though, so take that into consideration when you're deciding which area of town to live in.

Being in Utah County, it does have an extremely high number of LDS people, but there are plenty of non-LDS folks, too. I live about 10 minutes away, and I head to the Lehi/American Fork border all the time for shopping. Calibelle mentioned Cafe Rio; that's one of my favorite places to eat. Definitely try it out if you end up moving here!
