Default We're head'n west!!

Hey Y'all!!

We are looking to head to north eastern Utah and/or south eastern Idaho. My hubby works for Nucor Steel and is looking in to transfering to the Plymouth, UT site. I have been doing as much research as I can about the areas from Preston, ID to Logan, UT. I would appreciate any info you all care to share about Plymouth, what the driving conditions and times would be like.
I am originally from the Eastern Sierras(Mammoth Mtn, Yosemite Ntl park area)and am very at home in a rural mountain environment. I know that when you look at property and city sites online they give you distances "as the crow flys" which does not account for realistic terrain(ie: mountian ranges, winding roads etc.)
Are there any surrounding areas near Plymouth that would be ideal for a family of three(w/ an 11 yr old son).
Thanks in advance for your input!!

PS.... It took me about 45 mins. to drive to Nucor. I'm a slow driver. I always alowed that long. Samaria is the first exit going N. into Idaho on I-15. Lots of people live in Samaria and Malad and work at Nucor. Very nice drive on good road.

The workforce at Nucor drive in from as far away as Smithfield and Logan (Ut) maybe even Preston Id. Of course up to Malad and as far down as Williard.
Carpools are common when you are driving that far. I just sold a home to an engineer at Nucor in southwest Logan. His drive time will be about an hour give or take.
Those are the extremes however, most people live in the Malad, Fielding, Tremonton areas. Tremonton to Nucor is only about 15 min.
It is give and take, if you live in plymouth you have a short drive to work but a long drive for groceries and other staples. Same for Fielding. The closest stores are Tremonton and Malad. I think the closest wal-mart is BrighamCity and the closest mall is either Logan or Ogden, of course Ogden has better malls.
When I was doing research for the engineer I found that homes in Tremonton are running markedly higher than in Logan. He bought a new construction 4 beroom 21/2 bath w/2 car gargage for 162K. I found similar homes at that price in Tremonton but none had garages and were on smaller lots. Of course as you get away from the larger towns prices go down.

Malad, is a great place and bigger than Plymouth. Check between Malad and Sameria for land or homes.

Default Are you still in Utah with Nucor??

Howdy!
I know this post is almost 2 years old, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway
My husband also works for Nucor and was wondering if you are still out in Utah? My husband would like to transfer out there someday Lord willing I stumbled across your posting when I was killing time looking up ranches for sale in Utah- I'm from Colorado originally and miss my mountains so so badly. We live out east right now.
Are you guys still in Utah? What does your husband do out there?
It would be neat to hear back from ya!
God bless,

"Colorado" )
