I currently live in SLC... but I am considering Erda ( I own a horse)... Will I go mad? I work at the U of U and will have to commute. I think the property values in Erda will continue to climb and I will have to do this soon or be priced out of the market. Are the inversions horrible there too? I have lived in Utah for 30 years... but was originally from the east coast. M

The air in Erda is extremely clean if comparing to SLC. I have cousins who live there (Also horse people). Since it began growing it seems to be alot cleaner than when I lived in Tooele, it was a dusty little town with dirt roads...which was many years ago. Personally, I think if you're looking for clean air, none of the crap like crime you get in SLC or even Tooele, and you don't mind the commute; you'd like Erda.

Erda is very nice. No inversion...we can see the inversion over salt lake, but clear skies are out here in tooele county! The only thing would be the commute for you...if you don't mind commuting. Erda is definately horse country!

No inversion but toxicity problems...a huge YES. I would never live anywhere in Tooele County. I am not an activist but I am very concerned about the environment in which I live. I have lived here all of my life and I can't relay all of the news stories about contamination that I've heard over the years. I think that before you move you should seriously consider all of the pros and cons. Tooele and its surounding areas should be avoided if you are at all concerned with hazardous waste and chemical contamination. Go to these web sites and see for yourself how many hazardous leaks have been reported and the health problems that have occured. It's quite shocking.

Information regarding what industrial giants like Magcorp have done to the environment as well as a detailed list of reported chemical leaks from the hazardous waste incinerator. There are various links to prove that this area has been one of the worst sources of hazardous pollution in the country.

There is information regarding a U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigation of contamination of the ground water in Erda

That would be a bit of a commute.

Hey, I agree samtford! I live there and when my cousins come over from New Mexico, they always say the air is so clean, which it is! If you move to Erda, I think it would be a good move. The prices are rising though, so I hope you find something!
