Default Ogden/Logan area

Hello, I am researching the Ogden/Logan area as possible relocation from the Midwest. Can anyone give me any info on these areas? Also how is the weather besides being really hot this summer? I guess I'm more concerned about Winter really.

Hello, I have lived in both areas. Currently living in Smithfield approx. 8 miles north of Logan and ogden for about 8 yrs through the 90's. Much contrast between the two. Ogden has much more the feel of a bigger town while most communities in the Cache valley are larger lot sizes and more rural feeling. You can still find homes in logan with 2or3 cows in the back but it is getting less common. Both town have universities, USU in Logan and Weber State in Ogden. Both are state run but Weber was still classified as a college until just a few years ago.
Crime will be more of a concern in Ogden but Cache valley had its very first drive by last week in Hyrum so it is coming. The shooters did come up from ogden though. If I were you I would stay out of the area from 12th street to 36 and washington to monroe blvds. I probably would stay away from the area on the west side of the 24th street viaduct. South Ogden and those communities from the mouth of Weber canyon to riverdale are nice as well as most of the areas from North Ogden and west(plain city, farr west ect.) If you have any more questions give me a PM. I didn't really go into what Cache Valley has to offer but my Wife and I love it here.

Ogden has some of the worst traffic you will ever see on some of their major arteries. Travelling north-south through either Hwy 89 or I-15 at rush hour is [expletive deleted] They need to take a hard look at planning.

Default Look into Layton

Fantastic town a few miles south of Ogden. Its a large bedroom community with everything you need. You never need to drive to SLC because everything is here. It is a little busy traffic-wise (but so is the entire Wasatch Front). You can still get a nice house for a decent price. Hill AFB is a huge force here in terms of employment and keeping the area diverse.
