would our family like to relocate to provo?
i've read this is a great city for a family in terms of low crime, good schools, things to do and weather. we are a family of four who will most likely relocate in the next 2 - 3 years. my husband works in public health as a recruitor and project manager. he would most likely me looking for more of the same kind of work in a higher income bracket (50k+). we currently live in flagstaff and enjoy the four seasons here. we are happy to have a snow season (we all like to ski). here are my questions:
-we are not an LDS family; would we feel marginalized?
-how is the economy and job force?
-are there a diverse amount of things to do, art, culture?
i look forward to any and all feedback. thanks in advance.

SALT LAKE over PROVO...
Provo is a nice place with beautiful mountain views, low crime, and good schools.... but after reading your post... I think that the SALT LAKE VALLEY (about 30 minutes North of Provo would be a better fit). Here's why...
There are plenty of good suburban neighborhoods in the Southeast part of Salt Lake valley that have wonderful schools, low crime, and beautiful mountain views...
In the Salt Lake area... you're likely to find a more diverse population (Provo is about 90% Mormon... mostly young married families). Suburban Salt Lake is about 50% Mormon... so if you're not LDS... you'll probably fit in a little better.
There is much better economic opportunity in Salt Lake... your husband is much more likely to find a job that pays $50k + in the Salt Lake Valley. Provo is a college town and there are a few technology companies down in the Provo/Orem area... but somebody in the Public Health sector would probably have a much easier time finding a suitable job in Salt Lake City.
Weather is virtually the same all along the Wasatch front... you'll find the same weather in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo most every day. Summers are toasty warm with long days (won't get dark until 10:00pm in June)... In the wintertime you'll likely get dumped on whereever you are in Northern Utah. Only difference is the proximity to good skiing. In Provo you're about 20 minutes away from Sundance (very mediocre resort) and well over an hour to anywhere else. In Salt Lake City you've got 7 world class ski resorts all within about 40 minutes (or less if you live on the East Side of Salt Lake Valley). Salt Lake is definetly a better place to live if you're a DIE HARD SKIER! Best of all... you can take full advantage of the great deals offered to locals!
If art and culture are important to you... the Salt Lake Valley has much more to offer... Salt Lake is a much more diverse and liberal place... you'll find a lot of stuff up near the University of Utah (including the Fine Arts Museum) and also in downtown Salt Lake. To be fair... there is a nice art museum located in Springville (about 10 minutes South of Provo) and Brigham Young University likely has some nice places... but I don't even think it's close... If you like the art scene... and restaurants... bigger city feel... you certainly want to be closer to Salt Lake... not Provo.

We'll have to see. Utah is playing decently so it'll be a good game. I'll be there.

Ok, that is about the silliest thing I've ever heard. Needed couseling because of the treatment? You're kididng right? Mormons are about the nicest people you'll come across. Maybe they didn't appreciate the chocolate chip cookies they got after the moved in? Maybe they didn't like the casserole they got when their family was sick? Honestly, there are much deeper issues in that family than 'the treatment' the Mormons gave them.
