Bug problem in Saratoga Springs?
Someone here mentioned about nasty bug problem in Saratoga Springs since it's so close to the lake. Anyone who knows about this, can you please comment some more? especially those have lived through the summer.
Thanks a bunch!!

My co-worker lives out there and loves it. She did mention they were spraying more often since the mosquitos can get crazy. There have been a few cases of west-nile virus being spread out there. Be careful and wear plenty of bug repellent and long sleeves.

The bugs I saw there were actually very nice bugs.
Most of the shoreline of that lake is very marshy. I would be surprised if there weren't a lot of mosquitos.

Yes! The bugs are really bad out there. My sister lives there, and while it has its advantages, the bugs aren't one of them. They have tons of spiders (but they spray now so it's getting better), and they get huge swarms of bugs that I can't identify. Not mosquitos (though they have those too), but something else. They swarm the side of her house every evening.
On the plus side, her view of the lake is gorgeous, and it's very quiet.

I live about 300 yards from the lake in the subdivision with the hot springs, private marina, and boat ramp. Bugs are only bad in Saratoga Springs from about mid-July through mid-September. And they sprayed so much for mosquitoes last year that I only got 2 bites all summer long - seriously.
And BTW, those unidentifiable bugs are some kind of may fly.

I'm in Saratoga Springs right now and I have noticed the bugs are coming out more and more since it's warming up. The problem is that the whole area still has lots of farms around, and it's next to the lake. I wouldn't be surprised to see the bug problem go down over the next couple of years with the expansion of homes and reduction in farms and fields. It's a minor annoyance, but it's not like the bugs are coming at you like a plague of biblical proportion.
Saratoga Springs it nice, really nice. I'd be more concerned about the traffic congestion on Lehi Main and Redwood Road over bugs...
