Price is nice. Great small-town feel. I've been down there a couple of times.

Try poking around in these websites:

http://www.priceutah.net/ - City's official webpage

http://www.utah.com/cities/price.htm - Great descriptions

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price,_Utah - Lots of general information

http://www.blm.gov/utah/price/ - Info on parks & recreation

https://secure.lds.org/units/stake/0...00615,00.html? - Looks like there are two LDS stakes in price. That website is for the first one...

https://secure.lds.org/units/stake/0...01662,00.html? - And that's for the second stake. (There's also a student stake for the Utah State University Extension students, I'd assume.)

Good luck! If you have specific questions, post them & I'll do some more digging.

Happy trails!

Default Price is pretty nice.

I moved from So California to West Jordan, UT about 6 mos ago. I have a friend at work that has a little get away in Price and it's a nice place. A little too far out for me. Not enough to do. Heavily Mormon. Civilization is from Spanish Fork up the 15 to Ogden. I really like the south end of the Salt Lake Valley.

My wife is from Price. Small town of 10,000 with smaller communities surrounding it. Nice community college with tons of outdoor activities. One of the more diverse areas of Utah with a strong catholic population and Greek Orthodox as well as others. Expect to work in or for or in an industry that supports the mining industry. Inexpensive and weather can be mild. Housing is around $100,000 for a nice 3 bed 2 bath

I grew up in Price and surrounding area. My husband was born and raised there. We have lived in Oregon for only two years now. We sure miss home. Nice area. We are LDS and I must say there are wonderful members there, but there are also a lot of Mormon haters there. Heavy drug traffic goes through the area. I do think it is not the best place to raise kids it is one of the highest teen pregnancy and drug use places in the state of Utah. There just isn't enough to do (speaking from a person who actually went through the teen years there.).

Smile I live about 15 minutes from Price...

I was gonna say just go read the post about Castle Dale..but I'll just copy it here...

I like it here...

I've been in this area for 15 years this month, it's home to me. I live about 20 miles from Castle Dale, but I'm familiar with the area. There is a town to the west that runs into Castle Dale.. Orangeville. The highway that is the towns Main Street has a town about every 10 miles in either direction for 30 miles. The Golf Course is 10 miles south of C.D. in Ferron. Price, the town with the Wal-Mart and K-Mart and JC Penny is about 27 miles north of C.D. The winters are cold, and we don't get all that much snow here in the valley. The summers are hot and dry. The landscape is mostly shades of brown between towns. I tell you though... you won't find much more of an overall scenic place to live and play.. the Manti La Sall mountains with Joe's Valley Reservoir 20-30 minutes to the west for summer fun to escape the heat... and the San Rafael Desert with it's red dirt and breathtaking scenic vistas of gorges and pinnacles and lets not forget the 2000 year old indian writings, all just a 20 minute drive eastward for spring and fall recreation... when the temperature on the desert is more tolerable. The sky is clear blue and you can see the stars at night. I live in a small town, and the housing is a bit less expensive in the more rural areas. 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths for a little less than 100K... but that's my house.. heh. ...What is your husbands job if you don't mind me asking? I hope I covered some of what you were asking.

Second Post
****I'm more awake now and I see that I missed a couple of items.. **The highway that is the towns(Castle Dale) Main Street has a town about every 10miles in either (north/south) direction for 30 miles.** I didn't mention that most of those towns are much smaller than C.D. ...The kids.. well.. mine spend time at the court shootin hoops... ride their bikes... make mudpies.. catch bugs ...swim in kiddie pool.. go sledding .. kid stuff....heh. We take them camping and fishing and out on the desert shooting pop cans with the 22 rifle. During school there are other activities...basketball, wrestling... ya know.. sports...and also school clubs. There are also several dance/drill gymnastic teachers in the area. There is a really good museum in C.D. that we like to go visit. There are actually 2, but the one is more exciting for the kids. We live about half way between Price and Castle Dale.. C.D. is getting a new swimming pool.. and there is an outdoor wave pool and an indoor pool in Price. The wave pool gets a "bubble" over it in the winter and stays open year round, both pools are at the same location. The Emery County Fair is in C.D. There is a pageant in conjunction with the fair, up in the hills. It portrays the settlement of Castle Valley. It is LDS sponsored, and has a "pioneer village" nightly before each performance. The village shows how life was in the valley in the late 1800's, with sample candy, cow milking, a functioning black smith shop and more. The pageant has been held at that same spot for nearly 30 years, you can drive the 8ish miles or take a shuttle bus from the Fairgrounds. It's free admission and in my opinion, is worth seeing. Each small town has it's own town celebration on different weekends through out the summer.. the 4th of July... the 24th of July ...the fireworks in Cleveland are outstanding on the 24th.. (they throw TONS of candy at the parades in the really small towns) Price has International Days.. and Helper, 7 miles north of Price has the Helper Arts Festival, they are also known as Utah's Christmas town, and have an electric light parade at Christmas. OK.. that should help you out.. Thank you for giving me the chance to tell you how much I love where I live.. I sometimes take it for granted. This was a good reminder...

Talking About Price !

Hello. I am also one who has been in Price from the age of 8 and now back to raise my family. I seen where people wrote about teen pregnancy and so on, however, I feel its all the way your kids are raised, we have things to do all the time, sports, culture events at least once a month, bowling, plays left and right, just depends if your kids are looking for trouble or activites. I do believe Price to be safe, quiet and a place to relax, a few hours away is great city life, but a small drive the opposite direction is great camping, boating ,fishing area. The ultimate decision is yours, just take the opprotunity to come stay a while, see for yourself, and enjoy the sites to be had. Price like mentioned has greek, catholic, LDS, jehovah witness, and so on. Take your pick. My family and I are LDS, but my kids are in an almost totally catholic school, are I could not be more pleased, the teachers that taught in a private catholic school years ago are now teaching, and they are AWSOME, as well as in her class we have a great student who is Jehova witness and they make every one of every denomination comfortable. I would say Price is just like that! I hope Price will be my home until the say I die.
Thanks for asking questions rather then judging !

Sorry, can't believe what you are saying. In relationship to some teeny little towns off the main highway, yes there may seem to be a drug problem, but not compared with anyplace else that I have ever lived, visited. If nothing to do means, no mall to traipse around in, then yes you are correct. But compared to every other town in Utah of the same size as well as most of the other places I am familiar with, Price has more things to do. Just to name a few "extras": Wave pool, open year round, adjacent year round pool, swim teams, diving platforms, college-county recreation coordination offering year round outdoor programs such as ski trips, cross country, and snowshoe outings, rivertrips on the Green River, dinosaur digs, geology seminars, multiple baseball fields-teams. Also super skating park, basketball and tennis courts, super cool playgrounds, tones of BlM mountain biking, hiking, fishing within 45 minutes in two reservoirs, and canyon creeks. New River parkway being developed. Great Library downtown and at the college; community theatre groups. the Mormon hating started when new church groups and some ignorant other Utahns moved into the area organized and incited, rumored and divided the community, but most of the long time residents just ignore this and have friends from every background.
