Hi folks - I won't bore you with all the details of why I am asking this, but does anskyone live in Wendover and commute Salt Lake City for work? Is it possible, or just too far away?
Are there any decent public transport links?

any advice would be appreciated

Le Bus leaves the Sears store in Salt Lake at 9:00 a.m. every week day. It leaves Wendover at 5:00 p.m. The cost is $20 round trip. I don't think driving your own car is a realistic option unless you are prepared to spend $35 to $40 a day just in gas. Wendover is 120 miles from Salt Lake and the round trip is 240 miles.

And the drive is beige and boring. Not scenic. Mostly 2-lane divided Interstate, speed limit 80 mph. Not much between the two towns in case of car or health emergencies.

I wouldn't even consider a job with that commute.

Have you posted in the NV thread to ask options about where to live besides Wendover?

I agree with the other posters here. It's a really long trip daily. Plus high winds cause inexperienced truckers to have accidents more than I would like.

is there a compromise like staying in Wendover during the work week and making the trip less often?

Good luck with your plans.

Having managed a hotel in Wendover I can tell you that there's notheing much there other than casinos (on the NV side). But, if you'll be working in Wendover, you'll need to live there. the commute to and from SLC would be just not feasible.

But, if you'll be working in SLC why would you want to live in Wendover? If you want a more rural. small town area, there are better options such as Tooele or Grantsville.

Not always boring, I got some great shots a couple years ago on I 80.
