Default Funeral...

Could someone tell me if it would be improper for a woman to wear a pant suit to a funeral at an LDS Ward?...I wouldn't want to be rude or disrespectful...Back home I wouldn't have thought twice about wearing one...Thanks~

LDS consider it respectful to wear a dress if it is for a serice of any kind that you are in the chapel. Being non moron you will be given more slack as to what you can wear. But if you have a dress or skirt set, I would opt for that just to not have any problems what so ever crop up.

LDS churches ask that you wear your best. If it is a pant suit then so be it. You are the only one that knows if its respectful. Most wear Dresses as members but your thete to show respect to a person who has died not anyone in the Ward. Im in Wyoming so not in Utah.

Almost everyone else will be in a dress or skirt, so you might feel a little conspicuous or out of place, but if you don't mind that, then go ahead and wear your pantsuit. It's a funeral, not a church service (and really, you could wear pants to church, too, but you'd feel REALLY out of place. I rarely see women wearing pants in church).

I wouldn't consider it disrespectful at a funeral at all. And it's been so cold lately, you might think it's worth being different, just to stay warm, lol!

Default Better late than never

I've seen pantsuits, especially at funerals held in the middle of the work day.

LDS members are asked not to wear jeans, shorts, grubbies, etc. in the chapel (the room with the pulpit for those from places where "chapel" is the whole building), and the funeral service would be in the chapel, so if you showed up in any of those, you'd feel really out of place.

Jeans, modest (most members wear knee-length) shorts, etc. are okay for activities in other parts of the church building, especially for non-Sunday events held in the cultural-hall/gym.
