I've lived in Tucson for a while, and even there it is not 24/7/365 days of sunshine or warm temps. Like right now, it is only 37 degrees in the St. George Utah area. We get snow rarely, but it does happen. I doubt your wife would like Utah and its seasonal temperature changes.

I can't think of any place in Utah where it doesn't ever snow. Along the southern edge, you can expect some snow, but not a lot. The weather would be about as mild as it can be in Utah. As for the 24/7/365 suntan plan, I don't think you'll find that anywhere except possibly Hawaii. For outdoor recreation, you might want to consider looking in Kanab. It's a pretty small town with a lot of open areas around it to enjoy the outdoors. There are a lot of places around it to enjoy the activities you mentioned. A couple other similar places would be Bluff or Moab. Moab can be pretty expensive from what I've read on the forums here. Any of those places would be pretty isolated, so don't expect a short drive to the mall or the movie theater. It is generally 50 to 100 miles to a larger city from any of the three.

I'm helping out with being a forum mod this week, so I saw your posting. Utah doesn't seem like what you are seeking, but North California might have areas that are more your interest. These three cities are outside of the snow zone, but within an hour of big mountains and major ski and sled areas.

Glad to be of help, it is always nice to go home especially after being away for awhile.
I thought the OP was looking for something that would be easier found in California, so I thought I would just toss out the idea. I have nothing against Utah at all, just seems that this might be a better fit based upon the stated objectives.

I also think the poster should think about California...Utah is not going to cut it! Utah is a beautiful state, but it is, in some areas, living in the dark ages. I am not going to bash Utah...like I said it has it's beauty!
