If my grand plan pans out, I'll be driving from Park City to Steamboat Springs, CO in the beginning of April 2015. Has anyone ever made this trip (or sections of it)? I'd be curious to know if I'd have to worry about road closures due to snow. There are two routes suggested by Google maps. One takes you on US 40 straight east. The other takes you into Wyoming on 80 and then drops south. Would you suggest one route over the other for that time of year?

Thanks for your help!

I've gone the opposite trip, from Steamboat to Park City. Frankly it's pretty much a "no brainer". Hwy 40 has no significant challenges on it all the way that way to Steamboat. Forget about Wyoming altogether, it's s friggen nightmare during the winter in general. High winds, ice, snow etc. Stick with Hwy 40 you'll be just fine

no worries. That's a pretty non eventful drive overall with no real surprises regardless of what time of year you do it. IF a snow storm hit (most likely the type during the Jan-March range) it could be no fun, but by April it should be pretty smooth sailing as the temperatures during the day at those elevations any snow falling would melt. You'll be just fine.
