I was looking over the climate data in some of the towns in Utah, and noticed that some places have rather extreme variations summer to winter... some, not so much.

My "yardstick" was average high in the July, vs average low in January.

Vernal: 90 / 7 - a spread of 83 degrees.

I used to live here:

Monument Valley: 94 / 27 A spread of 67 degrees.

Monticello: 83 / 14 A spread of 69 degrees.

Some other spots:

Logan: 88 / 11
Brian Head: 71 / 10 < - I think that's the least I saw.
Hanksville: 99 / 11 < - I think that's the largest I saw.

I have not been to Vernal or or Brian Head, but I have been to the others.

Other than elevation, is there any other factor known that alters the summer / winter spread?

Also, does anyone have any "hours of sun" per month for the towns in Utah? I have not found it anywhere.

I wasn't asking for sunrise and sunset.

Hours of sun has to do with the amount of insolation. Or, how much the sun shines.

The consideration you show for others who've gone out of their way to try and help you is appreciated.

All of Utah is within the same zone on most insolation maps so there is very little, if any, difference among Utah towns. Salt Lake's insolation stats:
HIGH: 6.09
LOW: 3.78
AVERAGE: 5.26

Google is a very handy tool.

I also know that those maps are a model of inexactness. I have used them a number of times developing solar systems and basically, they're generally not reliable. Local conditions are often dramatically different from the "zone" on the map. That being said, I have been attempting to locate the town-by-town published data and haven't really had much luck. You can find some federal data on some zip codes, but only a select few.

I know that there's a huge number of weather observation stations and data, but most of it doesn't include hours of sun - or raw insolation data.
