Thanks Dogmom for the pictures! I know you live in the St George area, do you have any pictures of downtown? I will be visiting this summer, after all.

I saw a house like this in Boise Idaho, when we lived there. I was told by the owner it was to help keep the house cool. Being mostly underground, it did in fact seem cooler in the home.
Thanks for the pictures there great!

thank you for those pictures......it makes me homesick for Utah. If you ever want to do a fabulous but LONG hike go to Kings Peak 32 miles round trip. Its so pretty but when I went I wasn't prepared for all the weather issues I went through. I went in August but we encountered alot. It was worth it though

Awesome pictures everyone.. wish I still had mine when I drove though there a few years back.. the red rock and beauty is still burned into my minds eye. Some of the rest stops cut into a pocket of rock with green trees casting shadows the contrast of color I can still see in my memory.. these pictures help remind me just how much I loved the area.

Did you live there too? I miss that place.

we were driving around with the dogs a couple weeks ago, someone was coming to look at the house and we had to boogy out. We had to circle around a couple times to look at this place. One thing I have noticed about this area. I guess they don't have code control out there. It just didn't fit, but alot of homes are like that..not like this one, but not consistent within the neighborhood, especially when you get on the 'outskirts' like Hurricane or LaVerkin...Now when we take company from out of town to see Hildale (always on their list to drive through...not much there anymore) we can swing by this on our way.
I would imagine it keeps cooler, just kind of took our breath away..

I lived in all sorts of places, but Utah was not one of them. I was a truck driver for a time, I loved UTAH.. stuff like this picture here I recall from UTAH..
I never drove to St George, always up to Provo or Salt Lake.. but I would love to check ST George out.. it looks like a very pretty city.

We live in Washington City (Green Spring area) just north of St. George. We have been here almost 3 years, moved here from Northern Ca, house is for sale, not selling, frustrating..we are going back home, it's beautiful here in the fall, winter and spring, summer is brutal and we miss our kids back home.
I have a beautiful home for sale, make you a great deal!
St George is lovely, lots of trees and old historic homes...they do a lot of family oriented activities, like in the summer they have movies in the park on friday, and Washington City just opened a huge recreation center with gymnastics, huge swimming pools, indoor and out, activities for all ages and a rock climbing wall.
I am going to head down to St. George and take some pictures this week for ya all..
