Well, here is the link to the boat we went on...
Wendella Sightseeing Boats, Chicago original since 1935, Schedules and information

Navy Pier is OK, too. But, before you go there you should fit Millenium Park in, as I think that is worth seeing. Navy Pier is great when they have their festivals and stuff, or if you're going to see a play, but otherwise, it's no big deal to me. But, they do have indoor gardens with PALM TREES! (I know how much you just absolutely LOVE em!) AANYways...I am sure you have heard about "The Bean" in Millenium Park? That makes a cool photo. The park also has a really neat ampitheater and fountains (with giant pictures of people spitting at you!) It's just a pretty neat place and nice to spend some time in. Also, there is Grant Park, the lake, and Buckingham Fountain right across the street.

Oh, for pizza, maybe LouMalnati's? It's the classic deep dish Chicago pizza and it's AWESOME!

Hey, how is the weather out by you? Is it unbearably hot right now?

It's definitely HOT. was 100 today, on Sunday it got up to 108..it's a dry heat, but still hot..when you visit wear as little as you can get away with, and bring sunscreen, the sun factor here is like a 15...It can get breezy in the afternoons sometimes....

Can I ask what your itinerary is? You have your plans all figured out I am guessing...what do you plan to do while here?? I think we went over this before...definitely get some pool time!

Well, we're gonna fly into Vegas during the afternoon this Saturday, hopefully have lunch and walk around a little bit, then we're going to drive up to St. George and spend the rest of the day there until we get board. We don't really know what to do, though. We were thinking about visiting Kayenta and walking around downtown, maybe seeing the temple. When we're done with St. George, we're off to Springdale where we'll spend the night. We plan on visiting Zion (obviously) and probably Bryce Canyon during the five days we're there. Everyone we've talked to says Zion is absolutely beautiful!

Zion is beautiful...as is Bryce...Zion will be HOT too, so dress accordingly..they have trams that take you all over the park, so you can get off and on as you please...lots of little hiking trails, If I were you I would bring some waterproof sandles like Tevas or crocs and walk IN the water, will cool you off, lots of sunscreen and a big hat..lots of water...

As far as the St. George area, I am going to give it a lot of thought today about what you could do while you are here...Some very good restaurants, Painted Pony and Texas RoadHouse come to mind, Iggys is a great sports bar, we really like it. If you want a 'real drink' come over!

Actually, I will DM you our phone number so call if you get some time and come over and have a cool drink.

Barb/Carl

Hey, question...I am flying to ILL on the 4th of July and staying with my sis in Mt. Carroll for about a week and a half. We are thinking about doing an overnight in or near Chicago. Any good ideas of what to see? We are not wealthy. We were thinking the Shedd Museum? We will probably stay out in Naperville area where hubby and I stayed last winter and maybe we can take the train into downtown...

Anyway, any suggestions appreciated...thanks
Sorry, I was just browsing through pictures of your gorgeous state and happened to come across this thread and feel I can help. Illinoisboy has some great recommendations, too! If you want to see the skyline of Chicago from out on the lake, take the Seadog boat tour, its a blast! I also recommend the Field Museum of Natural History and the Chicago Art Institute. Perhaps just a stroll along North Michigan Avenue will be a lot of fun, too. If it gets hot and sticky (which is often the case in July), cool off on Oak Street Beach. As for fireworks? Simply stay downtown and head to Navy Pier... their display is phenomonal. Or if you cant make it that night, they do free fireworks shows once a week, but I forget which day.

Went back to Joe's Valley camping this weekend and decided to try to get the soft water effect.

There was still snow on top blocking the road.

We stayed a week. It was a great time! We made the most of every day. Now living in Oregon we don't have views like this and there isnt much pool time happening. Hope you have/had a great trip. There is so much to do in and around St George and for us the best thing to do was nothing at all! Hey thanks for posting the picture of Bear Lake. Havent been there for over 10 years but it is an amazing thing to see. "Tropical" blue water up in the mountains. Amazing sight.
