Default IM Flash in Lehi

I am in the process of being interviewed for a job at IM Flash. I just wanted to know if there are any other people on here that work there that could give me their perspective. Also if I were to get the job there where is a nice place to live that is affordable($200,000 for a house). I don't mind traffic but I don't want to live to far away either. I just want to get a feel for Utah because I have never lived out west anywhere. What can I expect? Anyway I'm asking to many questions now. Your response would be appreciated.

I did read the other posts and none of them are actually from people who work at IM Flash.

Sorry. Maybe one of them will stop by and help with your IM questions. I'm originally from Utah county, which is where IM Flash is located. I'm not sure what the current real estate prices are in that area as I live in the Salt Lake valley. Do you want to live in Utah or Salt Lake county? Housing is probably cheaper in Utah county. How far is "too far away" from IM? I doubt you'd find much in the $200k range in Draper (Salt Lake county), but you never know. What square footage are you looking for? Here's a link to a Utah Real Estate website. This might help you search for housing in either Salt Lake or Utah counties. What other factors, other than distance, are you considering?

Thanks for the info. I really don't know where to start for housing. 30 minutes is about the furthest I want to be away from work. Probably looking at least for 1200 sq. ft.

Are you looking for a newer home, one with character, one with a small yard/big yard, what type of floorplan? Perhaps that link I included will help you find what you're looking for. I'd recommend Sandy. You'd be close enough to work, yet close enough to downtown Salt Lake.

Yea we are really considering Sandy. I did look at the website and we see a few houses we like. We want a 3 bed 2 bath basic home. It doesnt have to be new. I do want to live in a diverse area though. Also, I have my interview for IM Flash on the 22nd. What should I check out while I am in the area?

I would recommend you drive through Sandy, Draper, Riverton, Bluffdale, Lehi, Highland, Alpine, or any other town you might be considering. Find the neighborhoods you like and look for housing in those areas. As far as sites to see, if the weather's nice, I'd suggest driving up one of our beautiful canyons. Perhaps someone else could weigh-in on their ideas.

Ok thanks. I will definetly check out those places. I just noticed that the houses in Eagle Mountain are really nice though. What are your thoughts on Eagle Mountain?

The drive from Eagle Mountain to IMFT in Lehi would be miserable. Two-lane road, bumper to bumper, all the way to the freeway. There is no good east-west corridor in the area yet. It should get better in the future, but right now, that would be a really bad commute. However, housing is less expensive out there, so there is a trade-off there.

I haven't answered before, because you asked for people who work for IMFT, but since no employees have answered, I'll weigh in: I live near IMFT, and if I were going to commute there, I wouldn't want to go farther than Sandy/Draper/Herriman on the north (you could, but your commute might exceed 30 minutes if you get too far north). In Utah County, the east side of Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, and parts of Orem would all give you a commute of less than 30 minutes, and some houses for less than 200K. You can also look in Highland, Alpine, and Cedar Hills, but the vast majority of the housing there will be more than 200K. The same goes for Lindon. Doesn't hurt to look, just won't be very many choices in that price range.

While you're visiting here, I recommend driving around nearby neighborhoods to get a feel for what the housing is like. If you need to kill an afternoon, you can check out Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. This time of year, a lot of the scenic drives and other activities aren't safe or available. If you're a skier, though, this is a great time to hit the slopes!

Check Utah Real Estate - Your One Stop Source for Searching Real Estate in Utah to get an idea of what's available in your price range in cities near IMFT. Good luck!
