no matter what you do, never say "in california we (fill in the blanks)". not only in utah but any western state. trust me. much appreciated, mike.

I say it all the time.....a lot of people I know, think that California has a lot of better things going for it, as far as everyday things are concerned.

I've been here for 2 years now, and never had a problem with anyones' attitude as to the differences between here and there, when I bring them up.

California has a convient lifestyle, and were some of the things from there, incorporated here, it would make living here easier as well.

i don't know anyone like that. my in laws down in utah all make fun of people from cali for this reason, with dead on imitations. up here in montana no one would take you seriously if you talked like that. no one wants to hear how much better cali is than anywhere else, and it seems that most californians move elsewhere to tell everyone how awesome cali is.

That's just general assumptions. And, people make fun of people, no matter where they're from.
When you're from a progressive state like California, and you know of a better/easier/faster way of doing things, then it seems to me, only natural for me to share that. I know of two businesses that got started here, because of ideas from "how they do it in California". Both are convience services, and are doing quite well.
As for people in Montana, well that's a generalization too. My neighbors and family up there, don't have a problem with taking me seriously, or the fact that I once lived in California.

We did that when we moved from NJ years ago. It just seemed like some people in Utah weren't seeing an obvious solution/easier way to do something...a way that we had been accustomed to for many years. Sometimes people would listen, but more often than not, they didn't want to listen or do it any way but their way.

After a while, we just stopped suggesting. Sooner or later, they would have a "brilliant" idea

I live in California, have been for 32 years. But having bought a house in Highland, and hoping to move to Highland, I will finally say goodbye to CA. It would really be a nice place to live if we didn't have Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Lee, and Dianne Feinstein. Throw in the socialist city councils of Berkeley and Santa Cruz and mix with extreme leftists in Hollywood, (it's trendy of the left to hate Israel for example) Then there is the super extreme political correctness that prevails in all society to the point that it becomes smothering. (don't even think of calling a wheelchair a wheelchair. It's a MOBILITY DEVICE!) And god forbid if you call a bum a bum. It's domicile impaired, or - homeless, or "disenfranchised." And how about "sanctuary cities?" If you're an illegal and you commit a crime, you can run to San Francisco and you won't have to fear being deported. IT'S THE LAW! And cities that do not welcome U.S. Navy vessels. And cities that do not welcome armed forces recruiters. Oh, I could go on and on, but I think you know what I mean.
Eddie, anxiously waiting to escape from CA!

ATTENTION PLEASE, if ur locating from Cali to Utah, Utah County would be one of the least places I'd pick, especially if you don't like long, cold, heavily polluted winters. Add to that, Utah County is THE most ultra-conservative part of Utah (Depends on ur taste of people's lifestyles) In my opinion, Utah's conservative plenty enough as it is. I'm in the sunny, desert city of St George. Funny, this is the southern-most city in the state and as far north as I'd ever live! My motto: Palm trees don't live there, I don't live there lol. Most would pick STG over the northern areas due to cleanliness, climate and proximity to national parks Vegas and So. Cal. But on the positive note for northern Utah, there's much better and more jobs and things to do.

It's pretty much impossible to tell people how a place is simply cuz everything is based on personal opinion. To a Mormon or an outdoor enthusiast, Utah is paradise on earth, they are most likely gonna say how wonderful this place is and the Mormon will try to convert you if ur not a church member ( a 10 on the extremely annoying scale). If ur avg. Joe, non-religious, or out to party and hit up the urban vibe, Utah's gonna be very bland-especially in the southern region. Locals in the St George area go to Vegas just a short 1 and 1/2 hr. drive to get the night on the town fix... But it's always nice to come home lol.

My motto: If I lose more than five pounds in water (sweat) by stepping out the front door... I don't live there.
