Thumbs up Coming for a visit in January

Just found out that hubby is going for the 2nd interview in the beginning of January. So, we should be knowing not long from now. So, we'll be visiting Utah real soon. He said it's important for his wife to like the area and see it firsthand since it's such a big decision and big move. It's where we'd be raising our kids, so it's definitely important that we'd all be happy with the area.

We told our kids that we'd be taking beautiful Utah pics, so they can see what we're doing as we check out the area. Then, we'll email them home. That way we all feel closer, too!

There would be so much to check out, in case this job pans out and if the offer is good enough to make the big relocation for our family. I pray God's will is done, cuz I know He knows our future and what's best for us overall. Only time will tell...

Best of luck (blessings) to you, Mountainfaith---and, if you move to Utah, may I suggest that you speak and think of the "Mormons" as Christian--because they are.

Have a wonderful Christmas, and a great life, no matter where you end up living

Thumbs up Just visited Utah

Hey, just got back from visiting in Utah for several days. Talk about amazing mountain views!! Incredible and breathtaking like we thought it would be.

My hubby had lots of interviews at his company and we think they went really good. IF he's offered the job, it looks like the salary range is really the big issue now. We are just very concerned about the super high housing prices and if the salary would be high enough to cover that and the usual family bills & needs, charities, and activities so our family could have a life while there, too.

IF this happens, East Layton is definitely our favorite for location & family stuff to do. And it's right by where he'd work, plus right by Ogden for their many activities and restaurants, while still living on the outskirts instead. Thanks for those very helpful hints you've given me & others on the area!

We also really liked Harrisville & North Ogden. Talk about beautiful!! Just to find an affordable house where we can still have a life, is the key. Hoping as the weeks go by more houses of better prices come on the market. Hubby should find out sometime this week either way if he's being offered or if he's accepting whatever might be offered him. I'll let ya know when I hear something.

Hey, important questions. What do you think of Syracuse? Is it too 'smelly' from the lake? Heard they get a 'smell' coming in off the lake. How often is this 'lake effect' smell? Does the lake affect weather at all in Syracuse? Could Salt Lake flooding be a future issue? How are mosquitos there vs. living in East Layton or North Ogden, etc?

BTW, we had seen more affordable prices online and went to visit the places which were in Clinton. But it was creepy, so we kept driving. Now we know why those houses were less. But they also had expensive houses there, which made no sense. Is Clearfield ok? I haven't heard much on that. Do many go to the rec. center there or to an Ogden one? I can't find a rec. center in Layton. With there HUGE population almost same size as Ogden, I was very surprised they don't have a huge Family Rec. Center offering all the different type of activities. I see they have an aquatic Surf-n-Swim. Sure wanted to live in a city that had all these things nearby.

The guy that worked in the Ogden (Weber Cty.) Tourist Bureau was super helpful. He sure fits that job well. Anybody we talked to while visiting was very nice to us. That was a great thing. We're friendly people, too, so that helps. And God answered so many prayers on our trip, so that was a great blessing as well. \/

We really liked the boss out there, too. He was so friendly & helpful about the area. Well, we only want the Lord's greater will for where we should live, so that's what we're praying for. Will let you know what we find out soon.

Thumbs up Layton

I meant to add that the Layton area was especially nice. Lots of traffic, but it was a beautiful area, with nice subdivisions and tons of stores and restaurants as well. And with all the cities really melded together like one big metro area from Salt Lake to Ogden, it's all so close to so many other activities to do.

Wherever, we end up living IF this pans out, visiting was so important to get the 'on the ground' feel for the areas we got to drive around a little.

Syracuse is really building up fast. They've got lots of new subdivisions and more on the way. That's why I was so curious about that area, too. Just so glad I got to visit Utah. What a great place it is!!

Did you check out the Ogden East Bench area? This is where I have a vacation home and I am very happy with the location. It seems very safe, and it's very close to the hiking trails. The prices are very reasonable compared to SLC.

Wink wally99

Yes, we did also check out the Ogden East Bench, North Ogden, & Harrisville. We took pics there and it was just so amazingly beautiful right at the foot of the mountains.

Wink East Layton

We just bought a house in East Layton last May and we love it. My neighbors are so nice. The neighborhood is so quiet and I love my mountain view. My 15-year-old daughter loves Layton High and Utah, and we're not even LDS. It's real safe over here. Salaries are lower here, but the quality of life is so much better, say, than like down south where we came from.
