Any Utah homeschool families on here?
I'm interested in finding homeschool groups in the area. But moreso hoping to find someone that belongs to one up in the outer Ogden area or surrounding cities. Especially in the Layton area or nearby areas. I wouldn't mind visiting a few different ones in the area, to see what all activities they might have. If we find out hubby is getting this job, then that will be one of the top things on my list to do.
I know it's always nice to hear of people who belong to a group there and really enjoy it. Let me know. I'm pretty sure someone posted something about homeschool being pretty 'in' there. That would be great!

Homeschooling in Ogden
I did a search for homeschooling in Ogden and your post came up. I live in north ogden utah and I am hoping to homeschool my son, however, I am new to this. I was wondering if you found any helpful information on the options available in this area. I would be willing to share any information about the area that you would be interested in. I have lived in North Ogden now for about 4 years.
Sincerely,
justsoneet

I live in North Ogden and am currently homeschooling my two children (kindergarten and 1st grade). I haven't been able to find any homeschool groups, but we have alot of great local resources. The Treehouse Museum offers alot of hands on playful learning experiences. There's also a program offered at the Ogden Nature Center called Homeschool Naturalists. It's a weekly class about nature (plants, animals, ecosystems, geology, etc.)

I am thinking about homeschooling also, do you need to be a certafied teacher to do so? Are there programs that can mix both homeschool and some aspects of public school. I am asking, because we just had a rather bad experiance with school this year, I want to do the best for my choildren and I have no idea where to start.

Oh boy, you aren't the only one with a bad school experience this year! I am hoping this next school year is much better all around.
I *believe* that you can homeschool without being certified through 8th grade. You also might want to check out the online academy if you live in an area that participates. My area, sadly, does not.
