What's in Price?
We're stopping in Price for the weekend... is there anything that we should see or do there?

We stopped their last year. There is a dinosaur and natural history museum that was pretty fun. But we have little kids.

Price
I grew up in Price. There really isn't a whole lot you can do in Price, but there are a few things. Nine-mile canyon is just north of Wellington( another small town just south of Price) It is full of pictographs and indian writings on the dark faced rocks. The College of Eastern Utah has a museum on 100 N. in Price. It has some full skeletons of a few large dinosaurs if your into that sort of thing. Helper (just north of Price) is a historic mining town that is worth the detour off of highway 6. Mining museums and a good pub are there. Most of the recreation is in the mountains to the West and North of Price. You can find forests, lakes, and great hiking in those areas. To the South is the San Rafael Swell (About 20 to 30 miles). It has deep canyons and large desert formations. If you have kids and they like to rollerblade or skate there is a skate park in the Northeastern portion of price. Hope this helps a little.

Nothing is in Price or Helper. Keep driving. It won't take too long to get through the towns anyway. They are drive-by towns.

A belated thanks!
Yeah, definately drive-by towns! I don't get it... sooo many people I meet say they are origonally from Price, how can that be??
We wanted to spend the weekend in a hotel (with an indoor pool) and do some geocaching and hiking, without having to drive more than 2 hours. And that is exactly what we did!
Went to the museum, and saw the petroglyphs in 9 mile canyon!

This makes the people who live in Price feel real good. Thanks.
This is a really nice area if you don't like the hustle and bustle (and crime) of the big cities.

Sorry, but I find Price to be the dumpiest city in Utah. The entire area is very much a mining area. If you like slow, dull small-town living or just need to live ANYWHERE that has good recreational opportunities, then Price is alright. But otherwise, just keep driving.

typical salt laker--nothing is as good as SALT LAKE...
gimme a break. sounds like you gotta get out of your little city and see the rest of your state. there is a LOT to offer OUTSIDE of your city and into where the rest of your state lives.
i quite like price. way cool museum! neat little college there, nine mile canyon is a MUST see!

Good observation. SLC is the last place I'd live in the state. I'd by far prefer Price to SLC. Most Utah towns have their own unique character... until you get into the SLC region. The character there is just typical faceless urban sprawl, USA.
