Well all I can say is you will be sterotyped like the rest ! I am Colombian American and get sterotyped all the time here in charlotte! Do you speak spanish ? That will really help you get a job but the job market is slow and some companies are on a hiring freeze! Goodluck to you !

I have hesitated responding to your question because I am not mexican american and I may be niave with my response. It seems to me that there is no prejudice in hiring as long as you have the qualifications and you are the best person for any job. Once again, I could be totally off the mark. If anyone living in Utah that is mexican american could respond then maybe they could shed some light on their perception of equality in the workplace. Although you should still be cautious in taking any response as absolute because it could be coming from someone that does not have a good work ethic and feels like they are being picked on when really they just might not be a good worker. Also, you mentioned LDS, were you looking for a job at one of their businesses because they do not own every business in Utah. People at other businesses are LDS but they are also catholic, baptist, presbyterian, etc. I am curious to know the specific mention of LDS. I hope you get some other responses that can shed some light for you.

What kind of work do you do? There is a large hispanic population here in Utah and don't think you would have any more trouble finding work than a caucasian.

Racism is pretty subtle in Utah culture and shows more in being uneducated in other cultures than in prejudices.
