Default Good Apartments around Hill AFB?

Hello!

I am going to be moving to Utah to work by Hill AFB and I am moving out there in June (orginally from WI but I am in MD right now). I was just wondering where is a good place to live? Currently I am looking at one bedroom apartments and I would like to be close to great places to snowboard. I just wanted to hear from anyone about good or bad experiences that had with apartments around there or if there was any hidden jewels that are great to live in. (I have been looking at apartmentratings.com to check out apts) Any help would be great!

There are many nice apartments in Layton by HAFB. I used to work for the city for 8 years so very familar with the area. My son used to live in the Quail Cove apartments which are on Hillfield Rd. and they were very nice. As far as snowboarding, do you want to live closer to the areas to snowboard or closer to your work. Snow Basin is excellent for snowboarding and much cheaper than the ski resorts in Park City area. Snow Basin is north of Layton through the canyon and you can get there easily from HAFB.

Default apartments

I, on the other hand, thought all the apartments in Layton were totally crappy. Cheap but crappy.

Not from my experience. I lived in one for 14 months after my divorce and coming from a nice house, I thought they were great. My apartment was a three bedroom two bath with a laundry room, very roomy and a nice pool. 1125 North Main to be exactly and across from Shopko. It was back in 2002 but it was 700.00 a month.

Rent out a house. It's probably going to be almost the same price as an apartment. There are a lot of military families renting out their houses around HAFB when they move out. Layton, Clearfield, West Point, and Clinton/Sunset are great places to look. Ogden is about 15 miles away. If you don't mind the short drive then you will find cheaper houses/apartments to rent there.
