Talking Relocating to Ogden area

Good morning!

MY 13 yr old son and I will be relocating to Utah in July. I have accepted a teaching position in a West Haven School. Can anyone give me good areas near West Haven in which to live. Also, any ideas on the cheapest way to move to UTah? Full service movers are over $2000...which I dont have!

Default - moving in July heat?

Likely you're aware of the intense heat July, if not, brace and prepare for this!

Also everything you do that time of year will be more expensive, moving, whatever, it is the most expensive time of year to be making a move. Think about doing something temp first, then complete the move later when cost and temperatures will be lower.

The heat wont be a problem...We live in los angeles and was 103 here the other day. As for moving in July, not really a choice since school ends here mid june and school starts in utah in august.

Default - have a garage sale

Also consider selling off everything you really don't need or is replaceable!

Less to move lowers move cost, plus puts fast cash in your pocket.

Once moved use local thrift shops to replace immediate needs.

As you're getting re-established, those things you need or would like to replace will be available new on credit, credit will be easy to obtain in coming years.

Default -

LA 103F is unusual for more than a few days.

UT 103F is common for weeks on end and its dry.

Your in luck! I grew up next to West Haven and I own a moving business. The entire area is a great place and you and your boy should love it there. The people are very friendly. The towns close to West Haven are West Weber, West Point, Hooper, Plain City, Farr West, Slaterville and others. They are all great places. However, it will not be like Los Angeles. They are small country towns but have been developing quickly in the last few years. A great website to search for Utah properties is Utah Real Estate - Your One Stop Source for Searching Real Estate in Utah. Also, ksl.com - Utah News, Sports, Weather and Classifieds has a classified section that is very popular here and could help to find a home or apartment. Now for your move, I haven't dealt with a long distance move so far so I wouldn't know what a fair rate would be. I can't imagine it being $2000 though. I agree that a one way U Haul truck would be a very good and less expensive option (Uhaul.com).
