the only child in Utah
we only have a 3 year old son and since the average children in a family in Utah is 5-12, do you think my son will feel left out in school or in the community as a whole? like he might think he's abnormal in a way? do you see a problem? are there some families in Utah with only one child?
also, I have this silly question, hope you don't mind me ask, during the snowy winter time, if you buy a gallan of milk, does that mean it won't get spoiled till hours later? just curious, since I live in a warm weather Hawaii and milk gets spoiled really easily in the car and I need to rush home to get the milk in the refrig, I guess there's no need to rush in Utah during winter time? how about other food products, like milk and egg and leaving them in the car for about 2-3 hours when it's snowing?

well, I do know other families with only one child but they are rare so I do think he will as he gets older realize that he is unusual by not having at least one other sibling. As far as the milk and eggs question goes, yes you can leave them out for a few hours when it is snowing, just fine, however you may have the opposite problem as they can freeze if it is too cold.

According the census bureau the average family with children has 2.21 kids. Highest in the nation, but hardly 5-12. In fact, I'd say anything over 5 is definitely higher than the norm.

As for milk, etc. You can leave that stuff in the trunk in the winter, as long as the temp is cold enough. In fact, that is one of the blessings of cold weather. When we go on date nights, we can leave our restaurant carry outs in the trunk while we catch the movie, and we don't have to worry about it spoiling.

where did you hear that one?
kids feel abnormal about almost any and everything at some point, some earlier than others. we can't protect them from every form of self esteem issue, so it would probably be better to help them face the issues and come to terms with them. you kid will probably do fine. but if you distress and obsess about it, your kids will too.
eggs and milk are fine outside on a cold winter, though i can't fathom as to why you are planning on leaving them out for 2-3 hours. even in utah during the winter, most people take groceries home when they're done shopping.

LOL. I'm not sure where you're getting your statistics from, but the average is only a little higher here than in the rest of the country. Still many people with only one kid. The closer you are to downtown SLC, the more you'll find that's true. And yes, when it's cold out, you can leave perishables in your car for a long time.
