Question Looking in Utah for a place like this....

I am looking for a place under 100k in population but within an hour of a major airport.
Also don't want too much snow or cloudy days & I love the trees.

Does a small city like this exist in Utah?

Thanks

Yes. There are towns like this, and they have trees, but they aren't the green, green all around you trees like you would see back east.

Too much snow? How much is too much snow? That is a vast definition for many different people. Utah is one of the states with the most sunny days a year, so that shouldn't be a problem, and there are many towns that are within an hour of Salt Lake International Airport.

Are you looking in Southern Utah or Northern Utah or Central Utah...that makes a big difference on the direction in which to point you.

kaytidid - I'm not expecting super green but I just want some trees to be there naturally not just planted by the city. :-)
Well too much snow for me is anything more than 3 feet for the season or is that too much to ask in Utah? I love the way it looks I just don't like to drive in it.
Glad to hear it's sunny.

Nomianca - I don't really have a preference but I have looked at St. George and think it would be a bit too hot for me although I hear the Cedar City is not as hot. But I am open to any part of the state but like I said we do need to be within a reasonable distance to an airport as our family will be quite a distance away.

If you stay in the Greater Salt Lake area, as opposed to the Park City, Heber areas, I believe 3 feet for the season is a bit above the average. Of course, there have been years....an hour away from the airport covers a lot of area in and around Salt Lake, too. From probably up to Ogden to the north, down to Provo in the south, Tooele to the west and anywhere on the east bench.

I am the same way. It can snow all it wants in the mountains, but I would prefer to keep it up there!!

Lots of cities like that (under 100,000) but as far as not alot of snow...could be difficult, unless you go to southern Utah.

If you are looking Southern Utah I would recommend Cedar City. I love St. George, but it does get to hot here. Cedar is a great town and the Las Vegas airport is about 2 hours away, give or take.

I recommend Ogden. It's not as saturated with the LDS population as Provo, but Ogden is a bit more diverse (though it's no Salt Lake City). Ogden is constantly rated "best city in the country" for its population (I remember hearing something like this on the news). You might also want to consider Orem, rated #63 by "cnnmoney.com" (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/money...PL4957300.html). They're both about 45 minutes away from Salt Lake City International, which is a Delta Airlines hub.
