What do you think about the communities in Davis county?
I was originally looking at Bountiful, West Bountiful, and Centerville.
My wife is also concerned about the cold weather.
I myself would welcome the four seasons as all I know are heat, humidity, and hurricanes. I know me and the boys would have the times of our lives with all of the outdoor activities.

I am also worried about the job situation, as well.
My brother stated that if I were to move there I may be "passed over" with raises and promotions since LDS take care of their own first.
Would anyone know any good job leads for Computer/Network technicians??

What do you know of Davis county?
I first started looking at Bountiful, West Bountiful, and Centerville. Still undecided - guess I would want to find a job first and then locate a home closer to work.
My wife is more concerned about the LDS attitudes towards outsiders than I am.
I am mostly looking forward to the four seasons, as I have lived all of my life near New Orleans, LA and the last two years just outside of Tampa, FL.
I am tired of the heat, humidity, and especially the hurricanes. Made it through Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and do not look forward to any others.
Also, how would you rate the commute to SLC from the north and/or the south?

We do have four seasons, but just let it be known that spring and fall are very short lived.
Check out Foxboro in North Salt Lake (Davis County). There are not only new homes going up, but some existing homes for a good price. They have an elementary school right in the neighborhood. It is really close to Bountiful and the commute to Salt Lake should be pretty easy also.

Please don't tell me that winter is the longest season, as this will discourage my wife about moving to Utah even more.
Thanks!! I will take a look at this site, as well.

Well I'm from Alberta so I just think Utahns are a bunch of whiners about the cold. LOL try -30 with a windchill of -10 It certainly does get cold here in the winter but the winters really IMO aren't that long. I do wish Septembers were a bit more "fally", they're more like an indian summer which is nice to. Great weather for outdoors stuff. October can be unpredicatable (as in snow cutting the fall short) although I thought last year was a fairly nice fall. Jan. is probably the coldest month but towards the end of feb. things do start to warm up again. But then again this IS coming from a canuck! LOL

BRRRR, Canada would definitely be out of the question. I am having a hard enough time trying to convenience my wife with moving to Utah or anywhere out west.
Maybe I need to find a good hypnotist for her!!
Where in Utah do you live and how are you treated by LDS and/or other locals?

I lived in AK for three years, so I certainly understand the cold. That was in my younger days, however, now that I am getting old, I don't like the cold anymore. LOL In my case, I feel like the winters are too long, but that is only because I crave the summers so much.
Hey, at least Utah is a "dry" cold...bwahahaha....

I live in SLC now and I have for 8 years. I am LDS but I have also felt out of place at times amongst other LDS. I think it has to do with the fact that Utah IMO is quite clannish, not necessarily cliquish but clannish. Anyways I have noticed that being from Alberta people in Utah are not quite as friendly but that does not mean in any way they are not nice, kind people. From my experience I have kinda noticed that many people are just not as open as other places but if you make the first move most are more than willing to reciprocate. Yes your wife may have some valid concerns about the so much talked about being "shunned" by LDS but I really think that's only one side of the story. There's self righteous snobs anywhere you go and here it always seems that that gets blamed on being mormon and not just being a jerk. To have a friend you have to be a friend. I think that religion is only as much an issue here as you make it.

As mentioned before, there are 4 seasons but winter is long then finally spring comes (very short) all of a sudden it's hot, then when you hope for fall to come it does but it soon turns to cold. I have seen snow as early as October in northern Utah. My favorite seasons have always been fall and spring and maybe that was because i didn't get enough of them
