NTU, I understand that you didn't choose to move here and you don't like the neighborhood you're in but you know there are many other places even within the valley that are more diverse. Have you ever considered moving within the valley??
Well we didn't have a choice where we lived, we took it blind sided and new nothing about any neighborhoods. We had to find a house in 3 days so it didn't give us much time to discover the great "Utah"..NOT..and trust me Maryland is no better. I am in culture shock thats for sure.

OMG...If you all lived here you would know what I put up with...some may think its normal behavior but trust me its called materialist snobs. I met two of my neighbors, but guess what, they aren't from Utah originally, they are kinda stuck here like me so I get along with them just fine.

That's such a nice area. I wouldn't mind living there.
NTU: Are you moving to Maryland?
I'm sorry that you've had such a bad experience with your neighborhood. Whereabouts in SJ are you? It's too bad because Utah really is a beautiful, diverse state and you might have had a better experience had you of moved into a better neighborhood. I can somewhat relate to some of the things you say, I'm not from Utah and I had kinda a hard time at first too (even sometimes now) I do notice a difference sometimes in people not from here (just being more openminded and things like that) Ofcourse not everyone is like that, I hate generalizations but I have noticed it somewhat. We live in quite an older neighborhood which has become very comfortable. The older people are so nice and usually a lot more open than the younger people. Guess it comes with age sometimes.

No I moved FROM Maryland. Utah may be beautiful, but I can't speak for some of the people here in South Jordan. When Im out of this development everyone is very nice. I will never get used to this grid system nor someone telling me north, south east west instead of make a left or right. I mean is it that hard to say that word instead??? lol. I do like the fact I can lug my son everywhere with me and no one seems to blink an eye at it. Im sure I get talked about in regards to that because Im older than most of the parents I see that have like 5 running behind them. I guess being 37 w/ a 6 yr old is ancient in Utah

I had trouble with the north/south/east/west thing too. I couldn't figure out why left or right was that much of a problem. FINALLY got the hang of it though.

I am 37, too. See, you would fit right in with me!! I don't have a 6 year old though, but that's okay.
