Question canoe/kayak rental on Lake Powell?

I'm hoping someone can help me. We're coming up to Kanab this weekend to get out of Tucson for a bit. We'll be doing the obligatory Grand Canyon trip (my husband's never been there), but what I'm really wanting to do is visit Lake Powell.

I'd like to have a way to go on the lake, and not just drive up click a picture and leave. I'm trying to find somewhere that rents canoes or kayaks around there, but I'm finding mostly tours.

Is it better to go on a tour than just exploring by yourself? I've found some motorized boats and jet skis, but I don't feel like shelling out $200 for a day when I'm perfectly happy to paddle around.

Any help or advice would be very appreciated.

I would really recommend against renting from twinn fynn.
The kayaks are small, the safety equipment is flawed.
The service is terrible.
If you need the rest of the terrible experience I had with this company email me.
But really look else where and safe your self a head ache.

I was at Lake Powell last week, with a wakeboard boat, and would just recommend considering a jet ski. It gets pretty choppy, especially where there are lots of boats (which is wherever a Marina is). Elsewhere on the lake, however, it was very smooth and peaceful, but it just wasn't anywhere close to where canoe/kayak rentals might be. Jet skis really are loads of fun, especially in choppy water, so I'd definitely consider it.
