I've only dirven through Utah to get to Lake Powell and have never been upper state accept for that time I went to Colorado and don't remember what I saw.
He's going to have to come out on his own for the first month before we actually make the final decission to stay. He has a couple dozen resumes out there and SLC is the only place that contacted him. Property values in So Cal have plummeted so drasticaly here that we will loose our a** on our home here. Don't think I'll be buying anything anytime soon. The weather here goes from mildly cold, to spring isn't necessary, to F*****g HOT!!!
We're very outdoorsy and love off-road motocycle riding. Is there alot of that there? All anyone has talked about is hiking. I'm not walking anywhere, and the 3.2 beer. What's my husband going to do with 3.2 beer? Is it diet beer? I'm white, he's Mexican decent, is that going to be a problem?
Dude, you guys got to help me here, Oh, do I have to loose the dude? does it snow in SLC, how much? Where's the best place to live? Don't have kids, so don't care about schools, 3 dogs 3 cats, is that a problem? Will anyone rent to me? and oh, RV parking is that a problem? Please tell me something good.

Go to the thread "What I like about Utah" and it will cheer you up. You will see the otherside of the coin. It will be a life change for you, but I think for the better. Utah is beautiful

Yes that will be a problem with the 3 dogs and 3 cats....pretty strict zoning rules (only because I used to work in code enforcement for a city) If you get a home in the county...no problem. Can't park RV's on the street either.

Forced at gunpoint, you get used to the 3.2 beer, or at leat DH has. You can buy stronger beer, liquer, and wine at the state run liquer store, however the beer is sold buy bottle and it is not cheep(1.80 to 2.00 per bottso a six pack would run about 12.00). The weather is not really bad it is kind of fun to have snow, tons of outdoor stuff to do (only if I could get DH to do it). Sorry I really can not help with housing and the pets, as we are petless : (, and are only renting an apartment). Sorry to here about you house and I hope all goes well for you, we kind of just ended up here also because of work and a better standred of living, if you have any other questions just ask. Blessings Michelle
PS sorry about all of the poor spelling and grammer way to late for me.

Thank You
Thanx everyone, I'm getting the idea, it's just as bad in liberal Calif. except ofcourse, the beer. County is always better to live in, there are rules, just not as many. The job is in Murray, but it's a traveling type of job to different construction sites. What town would you recommend, (county ofcourse)?

We were at a restaurant this weekend...I ordered a drink, and the waiter asked if I wanted rum in it... I said sure. Well, the drink was one that they bring in a caraffe and you fill your glass as needed...the rum was brought in it's own little glass.
So the waiter pours half the rum into my drinking glass, and explains that if I drink all of the caraffe he needs to bring me a new drinking glass...and then he just goes on and on and on, b'ting about Utah liquor laws, appologizing, saying how it relects badly on servers when the customers don't understand it..
I'm guessing because I have a NY accent he thought I was a tourist (and a rude NYer??). I'm sitting there thinking that the only thing about the liquor laws that bother me is having them explained with an appology.

I think it was probably because he didn't like the way the liquor laws are either. I doubt he thought you were rude, just maybe a tourist that wouldnt understand the laws

People worry about the 3.2 beer, but no one seems to be aware that in Utah it's measured by weight, not volume like everywhere else. It's actually about 4% which is similar to light beers elsewhere. I used to drink Corona light, so now I just get the regular & I don't even notice the difference. Besides, before you get used to the elevation alcohol affects you more strongly anyway.
USATODAY.com - What's up with Utah's liquor laws?
Quote:
Beer — There are two ways to measure the amount of alcohol in beer: by weight or by volume. Most of the world measures the amount of alcohol in beer by volume. In Utah, however, breweries are required to measure by weight. (This may or may not be due to the fact that measuring by weight gives the impression that there is less alcohol in the beer.) A 6% alcohol-by-volume beer that you'd find in the rest of the country becomes 4.8% when measured by Utah rules. In reverse, Utah's 3.2% beer becomes 4.0% when measured by "normal" standards. A six-pack of Utah beer has roughly the same alcohol content as five beers from another state.
Beer of the 3.2 type is available at supermarkets and convenience stores, but full-strength beer can only be bought at state liquor stores — at a hefty price. Kegs of beer are not available for purchase by non-retailers.

I just moved from Hawaii 3 months ago, I love it here in Utah (at least for the past 3 months) except for the overdue earthquake that worries me the most, honestly, I can say that if it wasn't for my parents still living in Hawaii, I don't have to go back to that island for the rest of my life, it's not my type for many many reasons, it's only a good place to visit, not to live........

I feel exactly the same way about the NYC area. I'll probably enjoy it more when I go visit, but I will never live there, or anywhere east of Denver for that matter, again.
I don't really think much about the earthquake threat. There's nothing to be done about it, if it happens, it happens... but hopefully it won't for a long time. At least my house is on bedrock.
I'd kill to go to Hawaii! I've never been.
