Possibly Moving-39-non LDS
I am 39, female, single, and non LDS, though I am Christian. I am thinking of moving to Salt Lake City.
I would like to eventually marry, and I know that being the age I am, lessens my chances most anywhere. So many my age are married. I wonder if that will be even harder for me, not being LDS, in a city where so many people are, and being single at my age is even more rare?
Can anyone tell me? Would there be much hope for someone my age to find marriage in an area where being married at my age is even more dominant?

Two factors would work against you. As you pointed out, more people are married here than the national average.
Second, it is important for faithful Mormons to get married in a temple. You must be a Mormon to be married in the temple, so that creates an automatic barrier if you are not. Just the way it is.

Ala-
I think Coolcats makes a good point. The numbers probably do work against you.
I guess the question I have is are you looking to move where you have the absolute best odds of getting married, or are you trying to find a place you like but want to make sure that you still have a shot at finding that certain someone?
If it's the former, then Utah wouldn't be the place. However, if you think you'd love Utah but just question whether you can find a partner, I wouldn't discount a city like Salt Lake. There are single folks here, the outdoor recreation lends itself to meeting people, there is a decent night-life (not awesome but people do go out). Tourism brings new people into town. The immigration from California brings new people. There are also plenty of churches where you can meet people.
If your serious about Utah, I would come visit over a weekend and check out some of the recreation, nightlife, and other places where you might meet people.
Good Luck.

You could alwaya try online dating! That's how I met my husband and things couldn't have worked out better. Course I do believe that the Lord had a hand in it too.

Thanks, everyone. I'm looking for a city no smaller than SLC. I will need to use public transportation, so I need a place big enough to have decent transport. I also like how LOW the crime rate is for a city that size. That is extrememly important to me.
But, yes. Marrying is also important to me. Important enough, that if my odds are too low, I will look elsewhere. I just don't know where else I will find all the things it appears I can find there. The low crime, 4 seasons, everything.

Uh no!.....coolcats can say that because he/she is the moderator and this forum is not the place for bible bashing and people with axes to grind. If you wanna do that there's plenty of anti-mormon or anti anything really sites.

what I said was "the statistical probablility of a female marrying for the first time at or above the age of 40 is zero". Sorry -- that is a fact. So I guess coolcensor is now taking it upon himself to ignore reality?

Really ... no one in the world over 40 has ever married for the first time? Interesting that a widowered VP of the company I work with just married a 50-something woman who had never been married.
I deleted your post because it had nothing to do with Utah and a location and everything to do with a completely unrelated opinion. As did your other posts. Post considerately and on topic, and you are welcome to keep posting.

Yikes. Didn't mean to start anything.
I know the odds are not in my favor for marriage. But, they are hardly zero. That statistic isn't true. I know it's been said and used a million times over the years, but it was proven long ago to not be accurate. Though some authors of articles, wish to keep claiming it is. And I've known a few women over 40 who married for the first time.
However, I know the odds ARE slimmer at my age, and not being Mormon (though, I respect them "immensely", I might add), I wondered if the chances would be even lower in SLC. I guess I have my answer.
Thanks for trying to help me.
