Default Utah a great place to live for Non Mormans

I was LDS, but decided not to be after moving to Utah and I still love it here. It is true the LDS people will not be as friendly when your not LDS anymore because most all of there activities are with their church and church friends. The good news is there are lots of Non Mormans here and Mormans are going to have to ajust just like they did in Mesa ARizona when there population lessons. Don't get me wrong I am not against the Morman church, its just that I grew up in New York City and the culture of LDS is just not my style although I am spiritual. I converted but wasn't active and when my Mormans neighbors brought me to church I realized the culture just was not my style. My recommendations for Non Mormans is to move to OGDEN areas or Salt Lake City areas, These two locations have the most non Mormans. Its just that the pressure on you if your not a Morman will feel uncomfortable, if your not Morman and just don't believe in all that seriousness and your living around 90 percent Mormans. The Kids are great, your kids will be fine. Its the grown ups that are serious because the grown ups in the church strongly pressure the other grown ups, and some people just are not cut out for that culture. Its not so much the Church or the religion, but the religion can bring stress to those that just are not 100 percent commited to believe in it all. I personally need to be honest with my self to feel happy and connected with my sprituality this is why the Morman church, religious side is overwhelming for me. I think if you grew up in that then that would work and does but for me as a Yankee liberal with a mind of my own, I just don't feel comfortable being controlled or pressured and have friends only if I do what others want. I want and need to be loved for being myself and I love coffee and see no sin in that. I am now a Christian but I don't really get too involved in any religion I just love Jesus and thats good enough for me. God Bless everyone, Morman, Christians, Black and White. God loves us ALL. and especially God Bless Utah, Lets everybody make this a safe, low crime, happy place to spend this short life on Earth and Life is just too short for all this stress and pressure. Time for Church reform and Utah reform, times are a changing, people are getting more educated, we are not in the 1800's anymore. God Love Utah, I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BEautiful place.

Our neighborhood is 50/50, and we are not LDS. No problems. The kids all play together, and the adults socialize. It mystifies me to read posts like yours. Maybe it's because you're half in and half out of the church, so your neighbors feel like they should try to pull you all the way back in.

But honestly, our 9 yr experience here has been nothing but great.

Utah is a great place, I agree wholeheartedly. I am trying to not be offended at the implication that I don't have a mind of my own, or that my friends only like me because I allow myself to be controlled and pressured by them. And I completely disagree about church "reform". But beyond that, I have to agree. God loves everyone, this is a great state, and you're right, we don't live in the 1800s anymore, thank HEAVENS, because I'm very fond of my dishwasher. ;-)
