All depends where you're coming from.

I woudn't know much about Utah other than that. If coming from SLC, things might be different. Perhaps the best thing to do is take a visit.

That never was an LDS tenant. You could take my word for it as an LDS man, or look up some names for yourself: Elijah Abel, Jacob Hamblin, Darrick Evenson, John Groberg.
That's not to say Mormons are immune to racism; I'm sure there are racist Mormons in the world. But it's not a tenant of the faith and never was.

I happen to like living in Utah. I get along fine with the Mormons because I am smarter than most of them.

Wait, who is it who thinks they're better?

There was a rule that blacks were not allowed to hold the priesthood in the Mormon church. It was repealed in 1978, but it does make me wonder.

and take note, the only reason why is because BYU was threatened to lose their tax exempt status, so they had to... But no one ever talks about that. It's kept hush hush.

I call it image issues. No one wants to look bad so few people talk about anything.

It was not "blacks" like everyone outside the church seems to think. It had to do with African descent.

The only reason to you along with many others who are antagonistic towards the church.

I have stayed out of it til now but WHAT?
So it's OK if it's people of African descent but not "blacks"? (btw, ALL blacks are of African descent. There's been a large diaspora of blacks mainly due to slavery but the only place black people originally came from is Africa so black=African descent (perhaps mixed descent but at least SOME African descent if you are black).
So if it's of "African descent" this would include blacks AND those who are not black but of African descent (mainly North Africans)? So it's what "outsiders" think (blacks) AND others as well. This is better?
Why defend it? Why not stand up and say it was appalling? I have no trouble doing that with things like colonialism. I know my ancestors were involved, but I don't pretend it didn't happen or that it was better than it was.

Must have really been hard on all those Anglo-Saxons of African descent.
