No Rhonda, I'm sure you're a nice person. Feel free to speak to us from the heart. But if you turn every post into "I'm selling property in Cedar City", then it becomes a commercial thing. Sorry, I meant no offense, and I would love to hear what you have to say.... if it doesn't concern your realty business.

Heck, you have a lot of Utah knowledge to share right?

Great, and stay here, your opinions are most important.

Peace and love,

Trebek

Some things are destined to become classics in their own time. I believe this post will be one of them.

Hmmmm, I live in West Jordan, & most of my neighbors are white, I guess I didn't think much of it. I'm from Ohio, so when I see black/mexican, or any other race, it all seems normal to me. =) My neighborhood is predominately LDS, but everyone is really friendly & no one shuns me for being Catholic. =) Actually there are ALOT of people out here who are not LDS. Good luck w/ the move & vacations are a blast here. =) We came many times before moving here 6 mos ago from Ohio. =)

Sorry, I should add, hispanic is the 2nd race, to white, & most are from Mexico, hence why I said Mexican. &, no, of course I do not think black & hispanic are the same, I should've separated them w/ commas, not a slash. LOL =) Just noticed I did that! =)

The "Mexicans" I've met here so far are from Costa Rica, Guatamala, Panama, Honduras, and El Salvador---although I think there may have been a couple of guys in the mix who were actually from Mexico!

They want to avoid the hurt, inconvenience, and disappointment racism has caused their lives.

You have not "confronted" me with any personal experience or evidence, only tantrums and insults. Your anger, defensiveness, and denial in response to my stating that Utah and the Mormon church have a racism problem speaks volumes. I stated that I am speaking from personal experience in observing racism toward the black and brown people in Utah.

I'd like to know what have you done to educate yourself and young people in Utah about what racism is and how to end it in Utah?

This board is not about challenging. It is about sharing views and opinions. My opinion is that Utah and the Mormon church have a past and present problem of racism. I am sharing with the board some racist quotes from the book of Mormon:

And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them." (2 Nephi 5:21, emphasis added)

O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God. Wherefore, a commandment I give unto you, which is the word of God, that ye revile no more against them because of the darkness of their skins; neither shall ye revile against them because of their filthiness..." (Jacob 3:8-9).

"their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites... and they were numbered among the Nephites, and were called Nephites." (3 Nephi 2:15-16).
Very insightful.

I would not live in Utah personally. I don't think I would fit in that well in Utah. I would go for Colorado or Washington state.

Utah is not for everyone. Like anywhere, some people love it and others hate it. You just have to spend some time here for yourself to really decide.
