What we refer to as the Utah poof!...A very distinct hair style...When we have company that's one of the first things they notice when they visit....It's a nice style and seems to be VERY popular! lol...

Downtown SLC - Downtown Regardless of What City Residents of SL County Live
Those who have not studied, asked about or visited UT often think Salt Lake City with the very small city limits is a "tiny" place. Compared to NYC or LA, the metro area is smaller, but not as small as some want to believe.
I don't know of any other state that stopped their capitol city within such a small area and immediately had another city start. One can drive from Salt Lake City to S. Salt Lake to Murray to Midvale to Sandy and Draper without ever leaving state street. When the populations of some of those cities are displayed, then the 1 million + residents in Salt Lake County makes sense.
I've seen cities border each other in other states, but not quite the same way and especially with the capitol city being almost smaller now than some of the suburbs where those who work in SLC live. The redevelopment downtown will change some things.
Those living in the suburbs often do what I just did. Regardless of the city name where some live many talk about Salt Lake City as "downtown." It may not be for where many live.
The funeral potatoes remark is funny. I had to have someone explain it to me as I thought I knew, but wasn't positive.
Then there is the huge 24th of July parade that is a state holiday, Only in Utah.

Yes, here is my favorite:
2 pks hash browns (cubes are better then shredded, thaw these)
1 small diced onion
1/2 green pepper diced
1 pint (non fat) sour cream
2 1/2 cups shredded colby/jack cheese
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 cup diced ham or sausage (Optional)
1 tsp lemon pepper 1 small can green chiles
Mix seasonings and cheese with hash browns and set aside. Saute onions/peppers and mushrooms. Heat soup, sour cream, and chilies thoroughly and add to onion mixture. Combine soup mixture with potatoes and put in two 9 x 13 pans. Top with crushed potato chips and bake at 350 till thoroughly heated. I just put it in the microwave.
this makes alot....so you can cut the recipe in half.

Yes I never knew there could be so many ways to make jello. What about ribbon salad that has 4 flavors of jello layered...that one is a pain to make. And who ever heard of putting shredded carrots in jello....Huh. That just sounds yucky
