This is everywhere, and is nothing new, at least where I'm from... Using "like" that way has been around for years.

Gotta love Utah - good people, large families, strong work ethic. It's also one of the healthiest states in the nation.

I do...I really do love Utah. It has its annoying quirks, just like anywhere, but I really do love living here!

Yeah, but it never seemed to be used as MUCH as it is now. I remember the 80's. You know, "like gag me with a spoon." But now, it is more "so she was like....and I'm all like.....and then he's all like....." and on...and on...and on.....

*Snicker*...

I finally had my daughter listen to two different people speaking. One using that like whatever...and the other speaking properly. I asked her which one sounds more intelligent? I told her that didn't mean that the one speaking improperly was less intelligent. However, should one go to a job interview with grammar like that...well, I made my point.

I asked my daughter one day when she was still in school, why is "like" in every sentence used and also used more than once sometimes? She said "mom, it's like when I explain something to you don't understand and it's like that's how kids talk nowdays". My response was "yeah, like whatever!"

As the other post said, I wonder what the kids will be saying in 20 years.
