Default I-80 in February

I know there can be snow storms along the I-80 corridor as late as April but I am planning to move back to the Omaha, NE area from Reno, NV in mid-february... We will be driving I-80 the whole way... There will be breaks between winter storms and Feb generally isnt as cold as January or now and it will be in mid-february...

What do you think are my chances of successfully making it through Utah on I-80 without running into any major snow/ice storms that could cause me to stop?

I would think your biggest hurdle would be in Wyoming. But then again, I don't travel I 80 that often.

I agree, Wyoming doesn't use salt on their roads, plus the wind makes it a huge mess. Last Christmas it was horrible on I 80 from Rock Springs to Rawlins. It took us 12 hours to drive what would take about 8 on dry roads.

I know when I used to drive from Utah to Colorado and went I-8 up through Wyoming, they have closed I-80. I have spent many a night in a hotel because they have closed 1-80. I passed through Rock Springs, Rawlings, Laramie and then dropped down into Denver. I would check ahead while you are driving and see what the weather is like.
