Hi rsr
In the last 3 years Ft Green is in much the same condition it has been in the previous 20 or so years. Nephi has not grown in the commercial side as fast as it has on the residential side, south Payson has continued to grow but is still a jont down the interstate looking on the Nephi side.
I currently live in Mt. Pleasant the little town on 89 that yes has the hospital, Nephi has a hospital as well and so does Gunnison in south Sanpete County, yes there are still more turkeys then there are people in the Ft. Green, Moroni part of the county but for a retired lifestyle of reading, fishing, and surfing it is one of the best places around. Yes it snows here in the winter I'm not certain about Ft. Green but Mt. Pleasant is at about 6,000 ft my husband was born in this county and we moved back about 8 years ago. There is a Wal-Mart in Ephraim on the north end of town. There is also a grocery store in Mt. Pleasant across from the hospital which is closer than Ephraim to Ft. Green. Then there are small gas stations with limited selection in Moroni.
When you refered to theaters are you referring to stage or screen? Snow college, Manti High, North Sanpete, and Gunnison High as well as an occasional Community group put on stage productions. There are 3 screens in two theaters in Ephraim, one screen in Gunnison, and the drive in is still open seasonally in Mt. Pleasant, I do not know if there are theaters in Nephi they have built an 8 screen stadium theater in Payson across from the Wal-Mart at the south exit I referred to before.
Ft. Green does have a State fish hatchery and there are many small streams and ponds that people still fish with permisson from the owners, my husband would know about more of those than me or I can hook you up with the retired guy up the street he and his buddies are out at least 5 if not 7 days a week fishing.
As far as internet it's available, reading use the internet to order or plan on a trip to a bookstore in the Provo area, I think Ft. Green has a library if not they do have the county Book Mobile which is the library on wheels I think they can do an inter-library loan just like the brick and morter.
Ft. Green and the canyon connecting it to Nephi had a big fire this summer and a lot of vegitation is gone so if we get a lot of snow this winter they may have some slide and mud problems next spring. Lamb Days is the major draw in Ft. Green and people come from all over to attend.
Now that I've continued on for way longer than probably necessary if you have any other questions drop me a line.
