Looking for an Uspcale living in SLC, moving from FL
Hi everyone. I am relocating to SLC in less than 2 weeks for work. I was in SLC just a week ago and I was impressed with the Landscape, the beauty and the homes near north Downtown however I noticed the Nightlife scene it was very slow. I am looking for a place near restaurants, shopping in an upscale neighborhood. Something that it will bring me some memories from Ft Lauderdale and Scottsdale.
I got some recommendations like Sandy and Bountiful but Sandy seems to have mixed areas.
Thanks so much for your help and advice.

It depends on what kind of housing your really would rather. Federal Heights, Harvard/Yale, and the Avenues have some great upscale housing and you are still close to downtown. Keep in mind that Utah doesn't have the vibrant nightlife that you might be used to. I am not into the nightlife scene myself. That is just what I have heard. If you want some newer homes, I would look at the Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek or Holladay area.
Upscale shopping areas are easily accessible no matter where you live. Park City has some great outlet stores too.

Actually, these three areas have older homes (those areas boomed around the '50s and '60s), although they are newer than Sugarhouse, Harvard/Yale, the Avenues and such.

I stand corrected. I was thinking that there were pockets of some new construction in those towns, but I don't get over that way too often, so it was just an impression that I had.
Sorry.

There are some newer homes in the area, but usually it's just a McMansion replacing an older-style brick home. Sadly, one out-of-place McMansion will ruin the character of an entire neighborhood, but I digress.

Have you considered Park City? You could find some very upscale neighborhoods there and as far as I hear the restaurants are great there. (only been there once) The atmosphere dowtown PC is also got a really cool vibe IMO.

If you're looking for something like Scottsdale, that is definitely Park City, not SLC. We specifically were looking to get away from the feel of Scottsdale which is why we did not choose Park City.
I would consider Ft. Lauderdale, and definitely Scottsdale, as upscale but with flashy money (and flashy boob jobs!). I really don't get that feeling anywhere in SLC. Even in the more monied areas of SLC it has the feel of "old money" and is not flashy. Also there are malls and such, but no shopping scene like you're describing, and most certainly not within walking distance. Emigration Market, which you can walk to from Harvard/Yale, is hardly what you're describing you want. The Avenues you can walk to things (lower avenues) but it's a hippy, crunchy thing, not upscale flashy. Close to the actual town of Park City (not Jeremy Ranch or other outlying areas) is very much like Scottsdale to me.

Yep, I'd say Park City/Deer Valley should top the list also.

Maybe something in the actual downtown area in a loft-like venue that places you near the Gateway development..??
