Relocating To Vernal
Does anyone know anything about Vernal? I have been offered a job there and plan to relocate, along with my horses and donkeys. Are there any good trails for riding in the area? Also, are the folks friendly there? I don't know what I'm getting myself into, but Vernal is a large town compared to where I live now. Any thoughts would be appreciated .

LOL I've never heard anyone refer to Vernal as the big city! The only experience I've had with Vernal is when we used to make the trip out to Dinosaur Land (Dinosaur, CO) I basically remember a small sleepy town with lots of dust for some reason. If you are from a very small city yourself I don't think it would be much of an adjustment for you or your caballos.

Vernal
I lived in Rangley, Co. for a year back in '78 and visited Vernal a couple times. The whole area would be very Burro friendly.

Vernal!!
Vernal is a beautiful small town, the people are friendly and kind. My mother was born there and several members of my extended family still live there...it's just SO SMALL!!! If it's larger than where you have been, wow! I have been there almost every summer my entire life and have really enjoyed it. Check out the Dinosaur museum...everyone has to go there...at least once! Good luck to you!

Hi Donkey Drover. I was born in Roosevelt and lived in Vernal till I was 21. My family is still there. Look up any of the Christensen's there they will help you out.
Your animals will love it there. There is quite a bit to do in the Uintah Basin. White Rocks canyon, the Uintah Mountains, Blue Mountain, Dry Fork Canyon, Book Cliffs (great for Donkey) and many more places.
Mom says the town is getting bigger, it is estimated with in the next 5 years it could be the third largest city in Utah. Depends on the oil fields. It is beautiful there.
If you need any other information feel free to contact me.
I do miss my mountains. I live on the East Coast now.
Have fun.

I was born & raised in Vernal and visit there often. Despite someone's view this is a "dusty" small town, you can be assurred there are a lot of paved roads. Vernal is one of the prettiest valleys in Utah and near some world class attactions (if you like the out of doors): hunting, fishing, backpacking. Take your donkey on a pack trip to the High Uintas. There is great river running on the Green & Yampa. You'll love Vernal if you're not looking for "big city" life.

Vernal
I was raised in Vernal, and thankfully have just recently moved out of there. Apart from being somewhat of a dull and expensive place to live, you will also find a really bad meth problem amongst the people there. I would definitly not reccomend moving there.
