I live in Kalispell, Montana. I enjoy your forum. I'm moving to Price (or Huntington). My boyfriend is working on the power plant in Huntington starting in June. It sounds like Price is the place to live. The lake in Huntington area looks great. Do they get alot of tourists? how can I find a house to rent? And it sounds like thers more than just LDS in Price, huh? Cool.

I don't live in Price, but I am somewhat familiar with it as I am with many places in Utah. Here are some basic facts to keep in mind:

1. Its one of the few places in Utah where non-Mormons outnumber Mormons.

2. The local economy used to be heavily dependent on coal mining. There are still a number of mines running, but the local economy is more diverse now.

3. Parts of Price such as the "downtown" are rather run down. It all goes back to the time when more people in lived in the area because of mining jobs. As the mines have shut down, the local economy has withered a bit.

4. You are separated from Provo, Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front by about 65 miles The drive to get there requires that you travel through Spanish Fork Canyon on a highway that is multiple lanes in some areas, just two lanes in others. Its rather windy and despite alot of upgrading, dangerous at some points. During some violent winter storms, the road over Soldier Summit is sometimes shut down.

5. Price is a small town. I'd estimate the total population at about 7,000. If you like small towns that's great. I think I'd feel isolated there in the winter time.

In answer to your questions: More tourists pass through Price on their way to Arches and Canyonlands National Park than stop there. I don't know what to tell you about renting a house other than to look online.

The climate will definitely be warmer than Kalispell, MT! Good luck on your move.

My parents are both from Carbon County, which is where Price is. I stil have family there. Here's a link to the local newspaper to help in your search for a place to live. There are a few restaurants there, two grocery stores (Alberston's and Smith's), the College of Eastern Utah, a dinosaur museum, and in Helper, a train museum.

Here are some other links you might want to check out:
